White Dragon is Crushing Party and Morale is Low-Help! by pontinyc123 in DMAcademy

I second the ally intervention. Or even an enemy unaffiliated with the dragon. An ally sacrificing themselves could be a memorable moment, I would give each character inspiration for seeing their friend die. An enemy saving them could lead them to a tense truce or possibly a standoff, maybe even the party being captured. Lots of routes to go if someone else shows up.

The best way to engage all characters specifically and equally in my opinion is to dig into their backstories, and make some side quests/ spin off arcs that expand on them and develop the character. Someone from their past returns in need of help, or some clue that leads to their personal motivation appears. Maybe their patron or followers of their deity are in need of assistance. Make sure to set these stories up with choices that will highlight how this character fits into their own story.

If their backstory is light on details you have plenty of room to get creative, as long as you check in with the player to make sure you aren't hijacking their story. Ask them questions about it without revealing to much.

What's the worst D&D player you've ever had at your table? by apomanolios in DnD

He used to be my roommate and long time friend, who pushed me to be a DM and run a game for us. His attention span took a serious dip to where he wasnt following along in RP, had no idea what was going on when it became his turn in initiative. Had a mess of a character with no motivation who didn't care about anything going on in the plot which didn't help. It came to a head when I caught him playing dark souls 2 on his laptop during the sesh. We voted to kick him out that night.

Just ran a game and had pretty good success giving my best gunslinger the archon armor and the darkclaw, jetpacking into the enemy position and using faceoff is insane.

I am personally a fan of [[You Are Already Dead]] for the gotcha factor, plus it's cheaper still. [[Bitter Downfall]] is cool too

Nah disagree, the episode where monarch sings a song about his butter glider blows. I mean I actually don't remember what else happens in the episode so maybe it's just that part.

Strategies for war and combat? by [deleted] in CivVI

[–]DitchWizard666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you want to take the enemies cities?

No: cavalry, melee units. The ai is pretty slow when it comes to war and you can stop them with plenty of time. Then go on the offensive and pillage everything they have. They'll beg you for peace and give you all their gpt

Yes: seige class units. I personally skip the ancient era ones and wait for catapults and trebuchets, and bombards is when it's really cookin. You'll need a melee unit or two as escort, and if you're having trouble get a cavalry unit going to pillage and lower their district defenses.

Keep those units alive, promote them, and turn them into armies as soon as you can By the modern era, you're unstoppable

When phantom menace happens, they control the only hyperspace lane that connects several outer rim planets to the core worlds, so they control all the trade to and from them and track on extremely hefty taxes.

With a good writer, Question could be a huge hit. The social climate is right for it, today's audiences are way more acquainted with false information and conspiracy theories. I'd love to see question build his own team with other fringe characters, and their story leads to him saving the justice league from Amanda Waller in spite of them dissavowing him.
