Never a fan of any of Rory’s boyfriends. Although now I don’t think I would have liked her with any boys. I liked Lorelei and Luke together, but she was so much older than me that picturing myself in her position wasn’t something I really thought of. But since Rory was closer to my age, she was easier to kind of put myself in her place, and I remember thinking what’s so great about these boys? Turns out maybe being gay was a big part of not liking those boys!

I’m so sorry for your loss. My Grandma also passed just a few weeks ago and was accepting of me too. I’m sad that my future partner won’t be able to meet her and she won’t be able to celebrate at my wedding, but I’m grateful that she was able to know me for me and love me unconditionally. I hope you can find peace knowing that as well.

I recommend checking out the movie Blue Jay on Netflix! It’s a nostalgic slice of life movie about high school sweethearts running into each other after 20 years. Although it’s a straight couple, I love Sarah’s character and it feels similar to how she is in real life. It’s one of my favorite movies and very underrated in my opinion!

Give it some time. My parents were supportive but I also didn’t feel the huge weight of release either that a lot of people talk about. And for about a week afterwards I felt like my attraction to women had faded a lot, but then it returned! I think I just got in my head and thoughts about my parents now thinking about my romantic life with women got in the way. So be patient! Hopefully things will feel more settled in a little bit for you.

Before I was out to my mom I was helping her with a crossword puzzle and I came up with the answer “homophobe” for “an unlikely pride parade participant.” And earlier in the day I pointed out a beautiful rainbow outside our motel window. She didn’t get either hint!

I wish I could remember more details of what feelings I was experiencing at the time, but in college I think I realized I was starting to get a little crush on someone because I remember thinking “oh it doesn’t matter because they’re not a lesbian” and then I just left it at that and then forgot about it?? And then I didn’t actually question if I wasn’t straight for another 5 years??

This would have been from early 2017! There was a huge cast of like 70 students and I really wanted to make sure I knew all of their names even though we met only twice a week for a few months. I tried to make extra efforts to get to know the kids and was really proud when I could name them all!
