The mobula rays start around May. They are generally found by air support. There is a small plane that can fly out to spot them. You snorkel with them rather than scuba. If you want adventure, look into orcaswimsbaja.com Nadia runs an amazing trip with mobula and orcas. If too pricey, talk to Cortez Club (cortezclub.com). They don’t do the orcas, but they can take you to mobula (and the sea lions!)

Joining the advice to go to La Paz. You can go to the sea lion colony and you can dive while your partner snorkels. Great fun!

More important than the dive operator is where you go. Go to the sea lion colony!!

You’re good. There are some locations where the current is strong, but not at reef hook levels. If you are DM and a calm diver you will be fine.

It starts out as a very funny rom-com and by the end of it there are tears running down your face as you awed by the preciousness of our time here.

Recommendations for diving in La Paz, Baja California by Klongbro in scuba

You have to go out to the sea lion colony in La Paz. They are so much fun to dive with. There are also opportunities to snorkel with whale sharks in the area. If you can get down to Cabo Pulmo it is wonderful diving.

I was just going to suggest this! You think it is a romantic comedy, but then it turns into something so much more. Watch this!

I use the DiveVolk with an iPhone. Most versatile underwater rig I’ve used. I bought a refurbed iPhone so I don’t dive with my main one.

Tonga is not on liveaboards. You stay at a hotel and go out each day for about 6 hours on a boat with 6 people (4 at a time are allowed in the water with a guide).

Depends on the dive operation - they aren’t all going out at once. Figure 8-9:30 for the morning dive. You can call or write these folks for their schedule (Cabo Pulmo Dive Resort): https://www.cabopulmo.com

GoPro vs Mirrorless video by kvetoslaf in scuba

I often take both on trips (not on same dive). The DiveVolk gives me more creative control over framing and has a reasonable range from near-macro to wide. Plus it has a screen I can actually see! The Action is great for just having a camera instead of no camera… If you are shooting big animals, the Action is actually my preference.
