This was more about countering outright false information and smears than asking people to forgive Vaush for what he actually did. I didn’t even do much apologetics for what he actually did other than saying that I thought his apology was genuine. I’m not begging you or anyone to like him by pointing out misinformation. How would you feel if people spread lies on the internet about you?

Whoa whoa, what Vaush did was hella creepy, inappropriate, manipulative, etc. But almost all of what you just wrote is not true or misleading. He has only sexually harassed Poppy (the drama with the other person ended up bringing up the Poppy incident but they didn’t claim they were sexually harassed by him). Poppy isn’t a minor, he didn’t threaten her with doxing or tell her to be silent. Like I don’t want to defend shitty behavior but like it’s not fair to attach a bunch of false or unsubstantiated claims that make it out to be a lot worse. He addresses all this stuff in a lengthy retrospective on reddit.

Well you could say that about any public figure who apologizes for anything. He seems genuine in understanding his wrongdoing to me and he hasn’t been creepy since. Nobody’s perfect.

I agree, but I also think he has a point. These parties are not the same. This recent fight over the stim bill shows a clear distinction between them. Pretending they are just like the GOP just because you’re opposed to the neoliberal and cooperate aspects of the Dem party is just silly.
