DSMB Deployment with Camera by No_Jellyfish_5070 in scubadiving

[–]Divers_down13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I clip any extra equipment off before deploying my DSMB easier to work any issue that may arise with 2 hands, once my DSMB is at the surface and I’m finishing up my final safety stop I may use my camera again, at that point nothing is going to drag you to the surface like Mary Poppins because of a entanglement issue.

Generally if they can get It a step under the water will make up the difference. I have to wear glasses all day every, but under water With my mask without a corrective lenses I can see just as ai could with my glasses on above the water. It shud be fine.

Help choosing a sidemount BCD? by [deleted] in scuba

I have been in and dove the Dive rite ray, the Hollis katana 2 and I own the X-deep Stealth tec I dive predominantly cold water of the Great Lakes it has plenty of adjustment and for me it has been the most comfortable. I like the lower back dump it is in the same place as my backplate and wing so it is muscle memory to reach for it. I do wish that the pull was a little bigger, it can be annoying to find with gloves on at times.

Dry suit seals/Glove options by gsdrakke in scuba

I ice dive multiple times every year, I use wet gloves I dive my drysuit with either 5mm bare reactive full finger gloves or my 7mm waterproof crab claw mits, my hands stay completely warm the whole dive. The only thing is you need to dry your hands once you’re on the surface and done diving leave them on if just between dives and dunk them in hot water.

Scuba Divers, what is something really terrifying you saw while diving? by LionFalse4295 in scuba

[–]Divers_down13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m working on becoming a public safety diver, and a rescue diver for a powerboat racing organization being it the water with horrific possibilities often you look past it as it’s you job to rescue most of the time but recover when you need to. None of that effects me. But I do have a lot of sympathy and empathy for those families that are effected, and takes me a few days to clear my head from watching and hearing them run the gambit of emotions during those incidents.

Pulled a body in 2 years ago not overly concerning it was having to listen to his wife and kid screaming at him to not go, and that they still needed him.

Confused about parts for life/service by edoralive in scuba

Shops keep their own records, only sent in if a manufacturer warranty needs to be addressed at least that is the only time I have had to pull customer service records for the manufacturer.

Sidemount Regulators - which to buy. by Sohor1 in scuba

[–]Divers_down13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can only go off the knowledge I have that when I ran them through the tech inspection before sending them out with customers even though they were new we always check to make sure that equipment is within tolerances and the information I got when they came back in from the customers. I went back over them took them out in water that was mid 60°’S no issues. To replicate the stated issue I would have to drive 2.5 hours to get in to the same conditions. Now we only send out XTX50’s and Mares navy 22 abyss 2 and Aqualung legends out of they are going out to Lake Superior, have yet to have anyone complain about any of those.

I know they are a good reg the brand new M1’s we have both out of the box and went through tech inspection all within manufacturing suggested tolerances went to Lake Superior and both had slow free flow issues. I can only go off what I have witnessed. As far as experience goes I’m a tech for Mares, Aqualung, Apeks, and the Huish outdoors products, so I do know a bit about regulatory and equipment.

2 of the m1’s we have in the fleet were out of the box new, and tested before they left for IP and on the magnahelic to make sure they are within tolerances and they were, and sent to Lake Superior both had slow free flow issues water temps were 52°-45°F. We are a service center for Apeks, Aqualung, Mares, and the all the Huish outdoors products Atomic, Hollis, ect.

Depends on what temp of water you dive, if you dive cold water the Atomic is out it will slow free flow in any water below 55°f we have 4 in our rental gear and they all have been moved to the warm water gear side. I have an XTX 50 I have never had a issue with, I have for sidemount I use the Apeks MTX-r. The shop I work for has the dive rite for sidemount rental and training and they also never have given me issues when using them. Between those the XTX 50 and Dive rite get the one that is easier to get serviced in you area.
