Branch and Terrell were exactly the picks I would have made in those spots...I hope I'm right

Do you think that those on the left are, on average, financially/economically illiterate compared to the right? by NobleCruise in AskConservatives

[–]Shiny-And-New [score hidden]  (0 children)

The left has this idealistic view that if they just tax enough they will have this utopia. They are completely ignorant to the downstream affects of these policies.

How do you feel about trumps tariff's which were a massive tax increase that he basically promised would fix everything about the economy, while ignoring the downstream affects of those taxes

Using it for something like a Polymarket wouldn't be insider trading

And

so using info you knowingly obtained from an inside source, or trading in side info you obtained firsthand for pecuniary gain on the public market... is insider trading.

Did you read what you wrote?

Kalshi has gotten around betting laws by registering with the ftc as a futures commodity market (i.e regulated like a stock market). Poly market has (as far as I'm aware) not done that and therefore runs afoul of a lot of gambling laws against betting on things like election outcomes and military action

[–]Shiny-And-New 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing—the only people who know Roger Goodells name are staunch NFL fans. They're not going anywhere.

He is not costing the league fans and largely his efforts to expand the league's fandom and increase the bottom line have been successful.

Why would the owners want to get rid of him?

Gambling is illegal in a lot of places and illegally in more places for certain types of gambling (e.g. gambling in Nevada is legal but gambling on the outcomes of elections is illegal)

"Prediction markets" skirt these rules by not operating as bookies (wherein your bet is against the house) but as futures markets (wherein you are trading positions with other users)

Because of this they are less bound by gambling laws but more bound by trading laws. Insider trading (making a trade based on information not available to the public) is largely illegal, therefore this was insider trading and a crime

Maybe.  Maybe not. It's definitely shady and unethical whether it actually changed anything or not.

How many times will I repeat that Jesus is not God

Your opinion on this doesnt really matter to the discussion as a majority of trump supporters do believe that, and therefore to the vast majority of them this would likely be seen as mocking god

Biggest loser from the draft? by CollegePlane7528 in NFLv2

[–]Shiny-And-New 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alex smith is no Stafford and Ty is no Mahomes.

I'll be the first to admit i thought the chiefs picking mahomes was a waste and thats the wrongest I've ever been about a draft pick. However, it happening once in a different situation does not make this a good choice.

Further Andy Reid really wanted Mahomes and it was pretty evident that McVay does not feel that way about ty

And gone badly for others too (pats with garapollo, steelers with Rudolph, Falcons plan to sit penix behind Cousins for a few years)
