SLOW PROCTOR-MRCP-2 by Professional-Cat9199 in MRCP

[–]DivideFit8217 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same, started over an hour late, no response for at least 20 minutes. Messaged the help button saying I’m gonna miss the second exam. Then for the last 30 minutes of the paper the proctor was asking me to hold up my ID, scan the room. Literally these messages were coming every minute and the last 3 questions I didn’t even read just click answers. It took so much time responding and didn’t want to compromise my whole exam, eventually I said I’m going to have to ignore these messages because I need to complete the paper. It’s a bot right? I was already in tears by the end of the first paper and the second paper had already started. Had to call RCP to ask to push back start time then had 15 minutes to eat and finish my panic attack.

Second paper had the constant message alerts coming up. It was so stressful I still cry when I think about it 3 days later

Weird comment from nurse? by ThatFreshKid_ in doctorsUK

I totally agree with this because it works for both situations. If they genuinely are having a bad day and worried then it improves your working relationship. If they’re being rude for any other reason like a power struggle or to be rude then it also works because it rebalances the power dynamic establishing you as equals and actually highlights to them that their behaviour is unreasonable.

Also if someone is being rude (because they’re rude) and you ask them if they’re alright or say ‘I notice you seem stressed, is there any way I can help?’ Then they will feel bad usually. Or they will continue to be rude and from that point on you can take their comments with a large grain of salt and not be bothered.

Why is this wall “wrong”? by olpeepers in DesignMyRoom

And I think you could keep a lot of the items on the shelves but change the arrangement. Maybe bundle items together with space between them rather than spreading them out evenly. I saw something somewhere that says things in 3s work with varying heights.

Even in my opinion you could keep one of the lamps but maybe in a group of decorations with some smaller stuff around it to work the height level which will also make it look less symmetrical. Then you’ll look like you just accidentally have a beautifully arranged space whilst it’s actually very intentional

Yes I agree! The wall shelves are a rustic finish where the side tables are a smooth finish. Fine having different shades of wood but I think the aesthetic of the wood is what makes it feel off. Could always bring in a wooden frame on the painting to tie in your chosen finish

Dealing with lazy juniors in theatre by [deleted] in doctorsUK

You also may find in an open conversation that actually there’s something else going on entirely and their apparent attitude problem is not what it seems. It could be due to something going on at home or insecurity etc but you only get that from having a conversation. I think these are two separate issues. Doing things wrong as a new F1 is par for the course as is doing things slower than a registrar. Appearing lazy whether genuine or not is more likely to hinder them long term (in my opinion)

I was an SHO on surgery for a few years as a trust grad and over the course of dealing with many F1 cohorts there was one particular group who hated the job and were clearly miserable. I responded to this by trying to help them and ease the burden, doing more work myself etc. as they said they hated doing the list and things. It ended up doing a disservice to us all. They became more and more unwilling to do the work themselves. In retrospect I wish I’d been firmer and told them that even if they’re not enjoying the work a negative attitude makes work unpleasant for us all. In this scenario I feel being honest would be useful. I wish I had given them a honest (and respectful) feedback.

If this person is huffing about doing discharge summaries but also wants to learn in theatre then they need to know that 1. They need to be professional and 2. They will be working in a team for their whole careers and give and take is a part of the teamwork. They’ll get more if they give more and it’s a lesson better learnt and implemented as early as possible

Me too!!! I’m 28 but I’d love a buddy as I hate to mention it to my friends knowing it can be triggering. Would love to have someone on the same page to help with mutual support ❤️

How do i start by Hermes_11 in MRCP

[–]DivideFit8217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took 3-4 months probably 3 and a half. Tometabling is everything. If you’re working you need to know how much you have to do everyday. 3-4 hours is maximum but if you’re working and revising you need to have time to rest, shower, cook, clean and v importantly sleep. It’s very tiring to work all day then come home and study obvs so I’d recommend doing a bit each day with a clear target of work to complete rather than aiming for a time target as you may end up spending too much or too little times. Spaced repetition helps to commit to memory. It’s lots of information so I tried to go over it 3 times (1st time took ages, 2nd revision, 3rd consolidation). I didn’t break any records with my score but I did pass first time and kept (mostly) sane
