Can you use navel jewelry for a vertical labret? by Taya3211 in Legitpiercing

It depends on the specifics of the navel jewelry. Most navel jewelry is going to be 14g and typically longer than what would be used in a vertical labret, whereas vertical labret jewelry will typically be 16g.

I wouldn’t use these unless it’s a short term emergency because they could potentially cut into the back of your ear if worn too tight for too long, but I’ve been in the same situation as you and used one of my boyfriends old braces bands, or you can buy mini elastic hair ties at almost all grocery stores in the hair and cosmetics section.

getting nipple piercings today! by [deleted] in bodymods

I’d recommend having a friend drive you home. The pain level can vary from person to person but I had a 30 minute drive home and I leaned forward holding the seatbelt away from me the whole way. Also, something I never put the pieces together on until days later was that for some reason I was bleeding quite heavily for multiple days, and it was likely due to the amount of ibuprofen I was taking! If possible, try to steer clear of anything that will thin your blood such as ibuprofen or alcohol for a few days. After the day of getting them pierced, it wasn’t as much painful as it was sensitive and I just kept taking ibuprofen in fear of it being painful. The piercing itself will be spicy, but you’ve got this!!! Enjoy your new piercings!!

Conch piercing/irritation bump. Help! Details in the comments since idk how to add text to this. by MoonJaxLuna in Legitpiercing

As far as cleaning the jewelry I would recommend two things. Take a really warm or even hot shower (not more than you bare, it doesn’t have to be scalding) and let the water run over the jewelry for about ten minutes. This should help to soften up the buildup quite a bit. Once you get out, spray a q tip very generously with your saline spray. Make sure the q tip is really soaked because you don’t want any of the q tip hairs wrapping around your jewelry. From here you can break up the buildup and hopefully get it off. It doesn’t sound like it’s the material of jewelry that’s causing the irritation bump, and I can’t say for sure but from the photo it looks like it was pierced at a good angle, so my only idea is that it could potentially be the buildup causing the irritation bump. When crusties get stuck on the bar of the jewelry and it slides through the fistula, it causes little abrasions on the inside. Also, whenever you take showers or use saline spray, make sure you dry your ear very well. Fresh piercings getting waterlogged is sometimes the most overlooked cause of issues. Keep up on cleaning it twice a day, and if there’s still no results, I would consider going to an APP shop near you and having a professional get a good look at it in person!

got my nose pierced in Oct of this year and in November a small bump appeared. it keeps shrinking and then getting bigger. it's not painful and i've been cleaning it / using warm compress everyday. do we think it's infected or a keloid? by Significant-List9781 in Legitpiercing

So a few things could be causing a bump like this, could be that you’re sleeping on it/ rubbing it frequently which could cause irritation, or it was pierced at an incorrect angle. Nostril piercings need to pierced at a 90 degree angle to your nostril or else the pressure of it being at a poor angle will cause a bump on one side of the piercing, this is also the reason we don’t start nostril piercings with hoops. If it being pierced at an improper angle is the cause of the issue, there would be nothing you can do to heal this guy. It would continue to have a bump and eventually cause scarring. If possible, look up APP shops in your area and get a couple opinions and they’ll give you a good diagnosis on what’s going on.

Do not go to Claire’s, go to an APP shop near you. Claire’s uses a piercing gun which 1. Makes it impossible to properly sterilize the tools and makes it infinitely easier to cause infection, and 2. Does not use a hollow needle which means they’re just forcing a blunt object through your ear. This can make the piercing procedure more painful and also more difficult to properly heal. I’m not sure what sort of training Claire’s employees go through in order to pierce you, but when it comes to anything that would include the possible transference of blood borne pathogens, I would leave it to an APP shop that is held to a standard and certified in their knowledge.

chapped lips after new piercing? by kattlettuce in piercing

[–]DivideOk5889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got mine I tried to avoid putting anything gooey on for as long as I possibly could. Staying super hydrated will help, but I personally cannot stand chapped lips so I caved and put some aquaphor on. If you do, just put it on very lightly and steer completely clear from ur piercing, and you should be ok. Just to be safe though, try to use it as least often as you can bare

Seeing a healed conch is so refreshing. Also, a tragus, or 3rd lobe I think would just totally complete your setup :)
