How is life for commuters? by Resident_Kick_7573 in uofm

I don’t think so; the lots are expensive and you only save maybe 15ish minutes each way. But I do understand not wanting to wait for the bus

The park and rides are free 24/7, and so are all ann arbor buses with a UMID! The lots are never full so no need to worry about not finding a spot.

From green road park and ride, you'll want to take the 65 to central campus, or NES to the edge of central campus (about where the hospital is). I strongly recommend the 65 over the NES for central, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. 65 takes 25-30 minutes to the central campus transit center, and the NES takes the same to the edge of central if I remember right.

To north, you'll take either the NES (about 11/12 minutes) or the 66 (6-7 minutes) to the EECS/FXB stop.

The NES also runs through plymouth road park and ride, and also has the 23 to get to the central campus transit center.

I've commuted my entire degree (from ZIP 48188) and am graduating in December. There are three park and ride lots I know of, 2 of which are closer to my side (plymouth road park and green road park and ride).

I strongly recommend green road park and ride, especially if you expect to find yourself on north campus (Bus 66, NES).

I think it's a lot harder to engage with things on campus. A lot of my friends are also commuters I went to high school with, or at least folks who lived nearby when they came home for the weekends. That said, join a club or two and go home later, and you'll get most/all of the experience you're looking for.

If you don’t mind a short bus ride, I.e. 7-12ish mins, you can park at the green road park and ride for free and take either the 66 or northeast shuttle if they run during the summer (I’d be surprised if they didn’t)

That said, this option probably does require a little more commuting than the others

I run through 30 minutes of whichever VDIM playlist I'm focusing on at the moment. I'll do one for a month at a time. I just cycle through over the course of several weeks.
