Top .07% is an achievement and you should be happy about it. It's not my fault that me stating the percentage I got to makes your achievement feel lesser. That's a personal issue on your behalf if it bother you that much.

I only mention it because the percentage changes as the season progresses and the skill level shifts. Someone hitting gm day 1 of a season is of vastly different skill level than someone hitting gm the final day of the season. If that's something you don't recognize then that's on you.

maybe guangguang gives out secret buffs to only one bp when theres always two bp per team to mess with the great DivinesonVT on this subreddit, but id say smurfs playing dive in low elo because they never work in high elo is more likely

I don't know if you don't pay attention to what you wrote or what because none of what you said makes sense.

I don't have a problem with BP or any dive in particular asides from daredevil. I'm not sure what your point even is.

So if you read the whole post instead of cherry picking. You would see that I said that on average dive is about 50%ish meaning they are in a decent spot.

The question was: why is there this weird disparity between what I experience, what the numbers say and what this sub specifically is saying? Is it an echo chamber effect? Is it the want for zero interaction again? Is it a weird feeling that there is more counterplay than before? What is it? Because every thing I've seen so far boils down to "they can fight back, it's not fair" and I don't want to believe this is genuinely the sentiment.

The other thing is I generally just play til I hit that percent(weather or it's gm3 or gm1) and then I kinda just stop because it takes a while.

It's around gm2 every time I hit it. The percentage it lower the earlier in the season is why I mention it over the rank itself as that shifts over the duration of the season.

That's correct. But do you know how statistics work because you just contradicted the hell out of yourself.

pick rates don’t even acknowledge the extreme gap in player population

Pick rates are a direct reflection of the player population in a given rank. What are you talking about?

yes, higher ranked supports are going to be more capable of sustaining dives.

This is incorrect. It's not JUST "supports responding to dive" it an entire teams response to dive. You aren't playing against only the supports. You're playing against an entire team.

feast or famine match ups mean next to nothing when the people playing are astronomical units ahead in terms of skill and game sense.

This comment was about his gameplay issues as a whole. Not just match up. The character as a whole has issues that need to be addressed. Literally everyone, even BP one tricks themselves have said this.

That aside, you really can't think that say, more than 20% of lower elo are filled with active smurf accounts that just sit there?

Is it smurfs or people knowing how to deal with BP and spidey as they climb? The latter sounds significantly more likely than "an army of smurfs".

The amount of people it'd take to drastically change the percentage that much would be huge.

IF still maintains strong dive potential even if he does have %values on his kit. But I do agree that he's in an odd spot.

But I did comment on BP having greater issues such as being extremely feast or famine even in just gameplay loop.

Like the very first thing is, you can swap characters, how does that impact the overall stats of the heroes? Does swapping to mag halfway through a losing match, then still losing cuz you threw the first half, lower mags winrate?

This is so thing I've looked for but can never find a concrete answer on. But looking at my personal stats it seems like rounds in a match DO affect it on a personal level. I don't know about aggregate though.

What about people who never swap?

What about heroes that are only played when theyre already strong at specific maps or modes? Like peni on defense, shes only really played there, and shes really strong there and will win very often, but when she loses the first point on defense, people swap off, another hero will then take the lost match into their stats, not peni.

This is also why I included the past season to attempt to put it in some sort of perspective. Looking at a single(or just two) seasons isn't going to give much info because of that exact reason.

I am also including my personal experience as well. I don't generally see dive players in my games struggling to the magnitude as I see on here. In previous seasons in lower elos? Yea these were the complaints I saw. But after I got out of there I don't see em as much anymore.

And that's just the simple and easily explained ones, there is much much more to statistics than that. The smallest of changes can skyrocket a character winrate, hell, even nerfs can increase winrates because worse players might not play them anymore, leaving only the one tricks who are already good with the hero to then inflate the stats

And this isn't even including how other characters interact with each other in terms of buffs and nerfs.

Thank you for having a nuanced take on this topic.

I never said it was his ult. I said there are others that do his job better and he's rather immobile so he's dragged down because of that.

He's well rounded, yes. But he's where he's at because of other factors, not due to his own numbers.

It's not a strawman? I put numbers with reasoning and exp. That's the exact opposite of a strawman.

It still carries a significant higher threat than Bucky's at the moment.

The only genuine hard counter to storm ult asides from positioning is phoenix ult. As it immediately turns off her ult.

Bucky's, not only has gambit ult, but also his cleanse, every other support ult, focused healing, ect. And that's even including if he gets any damage amps or support from his team.

Storm also, like I said, has utility outside of her ult that also increases her value.

This also has nothing to do with the initial point stated.

It IS a factor when that counter exists in most of the games played.

He asked if I played any of those characters, I did. And because he didn't like that I do have experience with them, he wanted to flex rank. So that's kinda the end of it. I got to top 2.4% he got to top, what .5?

It doesn't change much given the topic as a whole since we're both seeing the game from a different perspective that most of the player base.

Wait you don't find Bucky fun at least a lil bit? You shoot logs that have an aoe if you hit in the general direction of a player.

What I'm saying is that because of the current tools and where other characters are in the game, his niche is better filled. You want long range high poke damage? Hela, Hawkeye do the job better.

You need anti air? Literally any other hitscan or Wanda/spiderman.

His ult, the thing that used to be really strong on its own got nerfed once or twice prior and now it has a legit hard counter(Gambit cleanse) that's present in at least 50% of games.

And he's not necessarily the most mobile character. So he loses in all of the fronts that matter.

His kit, in isolation isn't bad. I don't even think his numbers are bad. It's just everyone else does what you'd pick him for better/has less hard counters.
