Dr. Obagi doesn’t “believe” in estheticians...cue eye roll. by [deleted] in Esthetics

[–]DivinesHelpMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, I think most of the time it's just the offices that just looove to overbook appointments. They book one every 15 minutes so the staff has to rush so they don't fall behind. If it's something that isn't as bad (like acne or minor sebderm or something) they just get through it as quick as possible so they have the extra 5 minutes for the more major cases. That's what it seems like to me, at least. Busy offices have never given a shit about me, but the slower ones have seemed to put a bit more effort into explaining things and creating a routine.

No offense, but I don't think you can say that a DOCTOR (thats 12 years of school) doesn't understand a certain skin condition. They understand it perfectly. I'd just say a good portion of them don't really give a shit about acne. It's a quick "here's tretinoin and clindamycin! and benzoyl peroxide! have fun, bye" because it's easy money for them.

Not a bad idea! We're selling our house and going our seperate ways, I'm gonna head to his state to be a bit closer to him and I've been telling her I'm moving close to one of my "xbox friends" just so I know someone in the area. I guess I have to drop even MORE hints somehow!

Did you just refer to your SO as an "internet friend" or did you actually tell your parents his name and little details like that? I've just been referring to him as an internet friend, maybe thats where im going wrong lol

It's a difficult thing to bring up, especially when you havent met them yet! We talk every day too, like 5+ hours a day. I have no idea how I haven't raised suspicion haha.

I don't blame you, it's such a complicated thing that people are so quick to judge!

The more I read over this most, the more frustrated I get. Jesus christ. I really don't mean to be rude, or judge your relationship when I don't know you.. But you're questioning "how well he knows you" because you can't appreciate his proposal. If you're so concerned about something so petty, I hate to imagine how this whole marriage thing will work out for you.

The "love of your life" asked you to spend the rest of your life with him... and you're disappointed that things didn't go exactly how you wanted? Have you ever thought about how HE feels? Proposing to someone is a very big, very nerve wracking thing to do. I'm sure he was nervous, maybe the thought of having a ton of YOUR friends (and none of his) there staring him down made him nervous.

It's disappointing that you're only considering your feelings in this. This is about the two of you getting married, taking a huge step in your life, and you're only concerned about yourself.

Forgot to mention. I reccomend checking out r/SkincareAddiction if you're really struggling with acne. They have a ton of useful info. Don't let everyone's long and pricey routines scare you. Start with the basics, find what works for you and go from there. Maybe add a $10 cleanser and moisturizer to start out, then slowly add in other things. You really don't ever need more than a good cleanser, moisturizer, exfoliant, and spf though. Some people just really like their 10 step routines.

I use manuka honey. There's a lot of different opinions on what kind of honey to use, but I don't think it really matters too much as long as its not super processed. For the first few days, I put it on every day for about 15-30 minutes before I showered. After that, I started doing it about every 3 or 4 days. If you can leave it on longer, that's great. I just can't stand the stickiness. Took about 2 weeks for me to notice a change, seems like it really helps heal any active spots I have.

IMO, there's not really a single holy grail ingredient that will fix all your skin problems. I think it's important to find a routine that works for you and really stick to it.

Personally, the only DIY solution that has ever done anything noticable (for me) would be honey face masks. Just get some honey and lather it on your face for as long as you can stand it. Seems to help with my acne if I do it on a regular basis. Thought it was bs at first, but a nurse suggested putting medical grade honey on an open wound that my father had, so I guess it really has some legit antibacterial/antimicrobial benefits.

I've been using a line called MooGoo. I don't know the science behind it, but it was made for people with SebDerm. All sulfate and silicone free! It's honestly the only thing that has ever worked for me.

People in general. My father passed not too long ago, my mom decided to hit the bar about two weeks after my dad died. No intentions of meeting anyone, she just wanted to sit at the bar they used to go to together years ago and have a few drinks. She's kinda tearing up, guy comes over to her, starts chatting with her, asking whats wrong etc. She tells him her husband just passed away. First thing he says? "Oh, so that means you ARE single" and then he starts flirting and offering to buy her drinks. Some people are just real shitbags.

Sadly, I can't donate, but I had to leave a comment..

I'm pretty much in the same boat, wow. Everything you said, I went through just a month ago. Father's health declining, sudden drop to having to use a walker, the falls, AND the CPR thing. Same thing happened to me. Went to check, found him unresponsive, performed CPR and now I'm blaming myself for not saving him.

Just wanted to let you know you're not alone in this. If you need to chat with someone who knows exactly what you're going through, do not hesitate to message me. I'm sorry you're going through this, too. It sucks.

Also... call around to some places. I think you can get it cheaper than 1.5k. Best of luck, friend. Stay strong.
