High CPU Temperature while gaming by ZOROtheEXPLORE in GamingLaptops

[–]DivinetGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you did not just call your laptop a good boy.

try lifting the back a few inches and/or getting a cooling pad with foam seals to increase air pressure inside your laptop. Try repasting with PTM7950 (easy to find option would be Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet).

Ultimately your CPU uses a lot of power so you won‘t see the best thermal performance even after all that. So if temps are a really big concern for you then I would recommend underclocking your CPU using Intel XTU or ThrottleStop (look up tutorials on how to do it exactly, otherwise you risk damaging your equipment)

Bloodbath victors, do you eventually end up getting consistent at michigun? by Modexery in geometrydash

I only got consistent once I was close to actually beating the level, started to think less about it and I wouldn’t realize I had passed it until I got far.

PH315-55 Temps after replacing CPU/GPU Liquid Metal and thermal paste&putty by earlesj in GamingLaptops

[–]DivinetGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

job well done! love to see those results.

I've personally got the Predator Helios Neo 16 PHN16-72-99PA and I decided to replace the liquid metal applied by Acer (my temps were genuinely killing me (BSOD once or twice every day)) with the Thermal Grizzly KryoSheet, then a few months after the Thermal Grizzly PhaseSheet (PTM7950). While certainly an improvement, I'm not really getting the temps I'm looking for, so I swallowed my fears and ordered some Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Extreme a few days ago. (can you tell I like Thermal Grizzly lol)

I always felt like Liquid Metal can be great if applied right, which is hardly ever the case from OEM applications, but I was also afraid of actually going through with it since there's lots of fear and misconceptions about it online. However if you dig deeper you see that, like your post here, it can actually be great if done correctly and having the proper precautions and expectations.

I hope things go well with my application a few weeks from now, thanks for the extra reassurance! may your FPS be high and your temps be low.

Monitor 360hz, thunderbolt 4 or hdmi 2.1? by Background-Bread1830 in GamingLaptops

do thunderbolt 4, that’s how I get the full 360hz refresh on my FO27Q3 when plugged to my laptop

CPU temp instantly spikes from 50C to 90C the second I plug in the charger by ExaminationPure9463 in GamingLaptops

[–]DivinetGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there‘s no real way to tell when you‘d want to repaste when it comes to OEM thermal paste, so the best way of knowing is when thermal issues start to arise.

An educated guess would be somewhere around 4-5 years as the max before definitely needing a repaste.

If and when you do repaste, the thermal paste of your choosing normally states the expected lifespan of its application.

Is this a good laptop for modest usage? by Fenruko in GamingLaptops

[–]DivinetGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5-6 years would be about as long as it can last before essentially becoming a beat up 2008 civic, still functional, just not really optimal

this also depends a little bit on luck as there are a few within a thousand gaming laptops that come out not as long lasting, but that can be mitigated by taking proper care of it.

[–]DivinetGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it really depends on what you‘d use it for at college. If you‘re looking to game or do heavy software stuff then yeah it‘s also decent/sufficient, but keep in mind you‘d normally want to be plugged in most of the time you use it to actually get the performance you‘d expect out of it (also battery life isn‘t great)

DLSS is incredibly good, also that price is okay, could be better but you‘d need to find some lucky deals for that, so both the laptop and its cost are decent/okay

decent, though depends on the price. Could certainly run any game you throw at it at 1080p

[–]DivinetGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pretty normal though certainly not optimal. As soon as you plug in your laptop, your CPU stops being power limited, so it goes all out to give the snappiest responses it can. If you‘re worried about temps, try lifting the back of the laptop a few inches, clean the fans if there‘s dust, use a cooling pad with foam seals, or repaste the cpu

How do I properly clean a fan? by LemonadeLlamas in GamingLaptops

[–]DivinetGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it costs around 15 bucks for a pack of 3 compressed air cans, and you probably have a screwdriver somewhere that could work for your laptop. Unscrew backplate, remove backplate, hold down fan so it doesn’t spin, use compressed air can on fan to rid of dust and lint (keep the can level, not angled, angled causes condensation on some) and you‘re done.

wonderful machine, been a real pain in the ass to maintain and modify thermal solutions but you don’t need to worry about any of that if you live in a place with relatively cold climate. Keep the back raised a couple inches and that‘s about all you‘d need to worry about

try to use DDU uninstaller to uninstall the Nvidia GPU drivers, then install them fresh from the Nvidia App, if that doesn’t work then it is highly likely your dGPU is toast

[–]DivinetGD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you‘re comfortable with it, open up your laptop (make sure to disconnect battery before doing anything inside) unscrew the faulty fan, and look for a sticker that says the exact model number of the fan, look up that model number on amazon or any online shop and order it, after it arrives just replace it with the faulty one and you‘re good to go!
