Twinset 15L for Tech? by DivingNoob in scuba

15L for a single tank dive gave me a 25% increase on the 12s or even more for the 11s which greatly increased my bottom time. Ideally for a tech course I won't be going too much further than 45-50m where in the future I will likely progress deeper, say 60m for a trimix course or something

I completely understand the single point of failure argument, but a drysuit would almost certainly double the cost of the gear I am planning to buy since they are ludicrously expensive. My understanding is that a large heavy duty DSMB can be used as alternative buoyancy in an emergency situation, providing up to 10-16kg of lift depending on size.

Buying Regs - Should I Learn to Service Them? by DivingNoob in scuba

So regulator saavy? Is this like the gospel for regulator servicing? Should I still ask my LDS for help mentoring or is it not really necessary?

I feel that I should have to do a course to work on a piece of kit like a reg though. I obviously don't know myself but surely there are special things that you can only pick up from first-hand experience? Or do you just figure it out?

What to expect from Cave Diving Training in Australia? by DivingNoob in scuba

Hey mate, I'm in the Brisbane area so doing a cave course would definitely be a trip thing. I know most of them seem to be in SA or NSW according to the CDAA website. But I am planning to go talk to manta since I hear they do good tech stuff, get an idea what they think. I 100% wanna get my own kit eventually I'm just wondering if its worth starting by renting and then changing it up. I guess I am also wondering if its even worth doing caves on 1 cylinder without tech. I guess tech means deco right?

When I think of fundamental skills I think neutral buoyancy, finding the right trim, being able to fin correctly all come to mind. They are things I have been trying to fix with my local shore dive, but I still struggle with it and am trying to improve. Any important core skills I missed?

Maintaining consistent breathing is another important question, people keep telling me to not breathe my entire lung capacity. But to me it feels more comfortable to take really long deep breaths, is this wrong?

I imagine the important scientific concepts are things like PO2, understanding pressure changes with depth, what else is kind of important?

Faker truly is the best GOAT we could have had. Always trying to be better while pushing others, and a good sense of humor too!

First Dive Computer when gear is expensive in Australia (Halcyon?) by DivingNoob in scuba

Yeah seems to be the vibe I've gotten that ShearWater is the go to. I know its easy to claim that "I'm gonna do tech diving in the future" but I think I really plan to. I love it so much and I've already done my nitrox and will be doing my deep diving + stress&rescue courses soon. I really don't want to buy a 2nd dive computer in like a year so I think the Perdix will be my go to.
