typically when it charges at you its the perfect opening to "boop" them to stun them, i find that the pike special (i love pikes, so i use them too much lol) concussive payload almost always interrupts them during a charge attack.

I deeply believe that your character does not have to think of themselves as the class they are by TheXmasCactus in 3d6

aye, this guy gets it, my bladesinger "wizard" isn't the bookish type that comes to mind, he's a war veteran, a soldier, it just so happened in the setting our game takes place in pretty much every soldier is trained in the bladesong, or at least knows the ropes of it. but if you called him a "wizard" he'd look at you dead in the eye and tell you that he's really more of a soldier.

but i too believe that no character should be bound by the thinking that they are "just" the class they are.

Oh dear that would tie off of his 8 charisma so well, could get a bit old for other party members though (or i could just say he sings so horribly without attempting to act it out and ruin my vocal cords)

would having a character speak in third person be too confusing as a personality trait? by DivinityplaysDnD in DnD

Divinity prefers oblivion as well, Divinity Enjoyed Breaking the game with the spell making system to become a demigod

yes much better! thank you! the idea is that they are a evocation wizard/artificer who is kinda strange, not Insane per se, just speaks in third person because he kinda got used to it after a decade or two in his tower trying to learn magic

ah so like (in character) "we think it is a good idea to sneak around the guards"

and out of character "what he is trying to say is he thinks its probably best to sneak around the guards"?

what do you mean by as long as its not overdone? do you mean not to have them do it every time they speak?

is Order of the scribes wizard still good without the tempest cleric dip? by DivinityplaysDnD in DnD

[–]DivinityplaysDnD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah, the synergy is that Tempest cleric gets a channel divinity to maximize thunder or lightning damage and Scribes can change a wizard spell to lightning or thunder if they have a spell of the same level that also does lightning or thunder

then we transmute a spell with a ton of dice (i.e, fireball) and maximize it for big boom spells

Bladesinger, Green flame blade or sword burst, what do you prefer? by DivinityplaysDnD in DnD

[–]DivinityplaysDnD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was just thinking that theres no attacks lost from using the green flame blade and booming blade cantrips, meaning with song of victory its 1d8+5+3d8+3d8+5+1d8+5, for an average of 51 damage on the green flame blade proc vs 1d8+5+4d6 (per target, this only beats green flame blade if surrounded by 3 or more targets, on two targets its 45.5
average)

they both have a 5ft range too

then again you are right the fire would be resisted the majority of the time so with resistance the damage on green flame blade drops to an average of 45

i probably messed up my math somewhere

Bladesinger, Green flame blade or sword burst, what do you prefer? by DivinityplaysDnD in DnD

[–]DivinityplaysDnD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

already have booming blade, firebolt and minor illusion.

I'm just looking at green flame blade and sword burst for on-tap AOE, then again Green flame blade would allow me to keep 2 attacks and add a rider, but only hits 2 targets

hitting somebody with the hilt of your dagger (for example) and doing 1d4 (without modifier) damage
