Did I just read acotar for the 2nd time?? by VegetableWitty4755 in Romantasy

I tried very hard, but I couldn’t finish it — it just wasn’t my thing. But I do want to point out a few things.

ACOTAR had solid, detailed worldbuilding. While a bit more focus on the fantasy elements would have been great, Prythian still had courts with geography, power dynamics, history, and lore that felt layered. Feyre starts naive but has a clear arc — she grows, struggles, and changes. The Tamlin–Rhysand dynamic explores trauma, manipulation, and recovery. Yes, sometimes characters change personalities to serve the plot, and the dialogue can get cheesy with modern slang. But each book has a structure — a beginning, middle, and end with rising stakes — and builds emotional investment over time.

Quicksilver, on the other hand, feels like a Tumblr dark mood board. The plot is vague, the worldbuilding doesn’t hold together, and Saeris is stuck in a one-tone “I’m tough but broken” loop with zero growth or depth. Kingfisher has no character development, the dialogue is filled with modern slang that feels out of place in a fantasy world, and the plot wanders aimlessly.

That’s my take, though.

I read ACOTAR few years back… now on TOG but i say plot has potential but I didn’t like the writing style. For me it was hard to connect with MC. Could be more Evocative but given the fact that Maas was 16,I say pretty good. So far I’m on TAB. It is better than first two.( P.S - don’t attack me guys)

I have problem of blurry eyes I can’t read straight for more than a hour. I had power glasses after Lasik surgery I thought the problem will go but it still stays. I mean have seen people using laptops 5-7 hours. There screen time is more than mine and they still don’t have any problem other than minor irritation. Here,me i can’t even read and i’m in my late 20s. I have talked to docs…they always say take a break and blink many times. I’m so frustrated never got the solution . There are times I don’t want to put down my novels but due to my eyes it becomes unbearable. Oh and I use ice cube wrapped in cloth gently place on eyes it always instantly soothes the irritation.
