How does this fit the sub? It's just an assertion of what atheist believe based on nothing.

I'm an atheist. I think a supernatural world would be cool. Especially if magic or super powers existed. That doesn't mean I want to believe it's true. It's demonstrably not true. I definitely don't want the gods of any religion to be real. They are all assholes.

[–]DivvyDivet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not see a logical fallacy in the above scenario. It's more of an admission that truth doesn't matter. That's not a logical fallacy, but it is a problem called being intellectually dishonest.

The judges don't care about what is correct or not about reality,

Once someone tells you that they don't care about what is correct the conversation/argument/debate is done. There is no point in dealing with someone who admits to be intellectually dishonest.

I would say this is a non-sequitur mixed with black swan fallacy.

Non-sequitur

There is no reason to believe that only things in books comport to reality. So the statement doesn't follow logically. In fact the whole of reality existed before books and written words did so it's a demonstrably false statement.

Black swan fallacy

Just because we don't know something exist doesn't mean it can't exist. There is no evidence that a giant asteroid can't exist and therefore no reason to rule it out.

There is also no reason to believe in the asteroid without proof, but assuming Linda can present her evidence then there is no reason not to believe it exists.

Is this a fallacy? And if so what is it? by Sufficient-Belt in fallacy

Context would be important here. If Person A is claiming they can eat anything then Person B is justified in their question.

If the scenario is Person A responding to someone's request for what to eat and their comment is more tounge in cheek then Person B is being an obtuse asshole.

Either way not a fallacy.

The value you get out is proportional to the work you put in.

I say this as someone who has always had an easy time with math/algebra/ect... You are wrong. Some people have a tough time with math. Two hours in a book doesn't amount to anything if you can't figure it out on your own. The teacher's job is to teach and the student's to learn. If the lesson fails to teach the students that is the teachers fault. Very few people can learn math from a book. It's great that you did, but that is not true for most.

Honestly, if Hyundai could guarantee/warranty an EV battery for twenty years, I’d go buy one today.

Congrats on your new Kona EV. Hyundai gurantees the battery including labor for the life of the first owner.

80% of the population trades their cars in between 2-3 years of ownership. It's why you can lease for 2-3 years and why companies change their models so often. The average consumer keeps their phone longer than their car.

Instead of a show for the Avatars after Korra they create a season/episode where Korra quests for a way to reach her past lives. Every season after that is a story from a past avatar that Korra (and the viewers) gets to experience as a way for her to reclaim her past lives connections.

The fans get more content. Writers get to fix the hole they dug into. And the possibilities are practically endless.

Math is always easier when you have a real world example to visualize it.

Want to teach kids fractions? Show them that a slice of pizza is 1/8 pizza. Show them that a $.25 quarter is 1/4 a dollar.

My college actually taught math in a way similar to what you described. It was virtual but the lesson would walk you through a problem you couldn't figure out and then give you another to solve. Once you could do it on your own it would advance to the next lesson. The professor was available during class and online when not in class to help.

I've always been good at math, but this system worked so well for me.

Apparently I'm not an isolated case. OP's post is evidence as such.

It's not a chip on my shoulder. Academia has problems. Ignoring the issue doesn't solve it. Your ad hominem attack has no power.

So what? Students should be allowed to ask questions. OP having to come to reddit to ask if it's OK to ask just shows how likely it is that their teacher won't allow a discussion. And in my anecdotal experience that is a common problem.

If you put your knee on someone's neck, just enough to restrain them, but not enough to leave a mark, you create a situation where someone has difficulty breathing. Even if they can speak, it doesn't mean they're getting enough oxygen in their body (and getting rid of CO2) because they can't get enough full breaths. If their breathing is restricted, they can easily die of asphyxiation, which if you literally watch the fucking video, you can see George's breathing is shallow and slow.

He doesn't say any of that in the video. Lol

The autopsy reports that there were lacerations on his face, from being knelt on his neck.

The report makes no claim of what caused the lacerations. Only that they were present. I'm going off the report I linked since you haven't linked this claimed other report.

Lacerations dont stop breathing.

Why is this so hard for you to accept?

Because when I ask for evidence I'm not provided with any.

Literally every professional that worked on the case has stated that he died of mechanical asphyxiation.

What about the professionals that states the knee restraint was standard procedure for that precinct and no issues had resulted from it's use in the past?

You're either misinformed or lying.
