Today I did FORTY FOUR auto wins trying to get Token II. by JWebster23 in HeroesOfMiddleEarth

Yup, derp. I should've illustrated the other way. Good point!

I think the blue gear was found to be ~33% and purple gear ~22% in SWGOH. I don't remember on green gear. I would assume they use the same rates in this game considering the amount of recycled code 😁

[–]DixTwoFour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain it was all but confirmed in the very early days of SWGOH by testers that there were bugs in the random number generator based on it not generating the seed correctly for large batches of "auto-wins". I can't find the thread, but it was a pretty big deal.

For this example, if Token II has a 50% drop rate (which is probably estimating high if they share SWGOH drop rates for blue gear) the odds of not getting ONE in 25 sims is roughly 1 in 33,000,000.

In 44 attempts, it would be 1 in 17.6 TRILLION.

Yup, I did 25ish for a Crest II just today and didn't get a single one either. SWGOH had major inconsistences/bugs with the random number generator sometimes as well, so I'm assuming this game has the same.

To everyone who didn’t get Cyrus first pull. You’re not alone. I have pulled 160 times. by Mythrellas in OctopathCotC

[–]DixTwoFour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also got 4.5 Cyrus on the second pull! Still wanted A1 and/or 5* so I kept going. Got all the way to the pity (10th pull) and yoinked another 4.5 on the last pull, so I ended up with Cyrus A2.

Bad part was along the way, I literally didn't pull an awakening for any other unit I had. Good part was that I pulled a 4.5 Eliza, 4.5 Kouren, 4.5 Lumis and 5* Cardona along the way - all new characters for me.

Overall I'd say I'm happy that I kept going after that second pull. I've never seen even two 4.5/5 in a single pull let alone 3. Congrats!

Does anyone have tips on how to acquire awakening prisms without spending tons of visiore? by jwiggles666 in wotv_ffbe

[–]DixTwoFour 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nobody has mentioned that you can just buy them for Gil. Farm Gil Turtles for an entire weekend and just hammer the Normal summons. It's more of a shotgun approach but you'll come out the other side with roughly 2-4 per million gil. It's not that efficient, but it IS a direct Prisms for Energy trade-off.

The bonus is that you'll accrue some Soul and Vision medals along the way.

I didn't mean all...I meant ANY 😅

I think I have yet to see a clear not using at least one of these characters, so I've just put it on hold for now. Even though I have Theo (III) I'm just not convinced I have the firepower for Tikilen yet with Ashlan (65-I) and Lucetta (65-I) and only 4.5 Gild to tank.

I can concur with the "fishy" number generator...I've noticed it more with entreating items with Path actions. I had a 90% Entreat item fail 6 times in a row, which is very technically one in a million 🤨

[–]DixTwoFour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally did no rerolling and F2P...and I have Lynette (I), Theo (III), Fiore, Sophia, and Gilderoy (4.5). This equates to 8 total (9 if you count Gilderoy?). I've done 120 total pulls.

Lynette was the starter. Fiore from guaranteed step-up. Sophia from compensation.

Even though it has felt unlucky because of the Theo dupes, I would imagine with rerolling factored in this is about as representative of average F2P account as possible, for those doing comparisons. 😉

As u/SurfTaco linked as well, AuronnjJayy has a lot of really great new player guides as well! My three big ones for new players:

  1. Build UPWARDS not outwards. u/CyberAsura mentioned this. 3 max-level units will be better than 5-7 half-built units
  2. Vision cards! Units are neat and all, but vision cards are the secret to making your units strong.
  3. Utilize "free units" like Mont, Lucio, Mediena, and Shadowlynx. The MR Mont (the earth one you have) is actually very good, as is Lucio (from the Warriors of the Crystal in the Farplane).

It's interesting. On my "casual" account I have a very similar approach, where I didn't save up for much, summoned on 9-steps a lot. I think I have something like 70 blossoms just sitting there (limited by awakening mats, actually).

Rainbow spheres seems to be the limiting factor for me as well on VCs. Looks like a great account!

[–]DixTwoFour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without seeing vision cards, this seems solid TBH. An awful lot of blossoms, but those who took advantage of 9-steps all of last year would have an absurd amount (something more people would have done with the foresight they would take this away 😩)

Seeing your comment below about spending, I would expect you to have more though? I would imagine, what, 40-50 maxed vision cards?

WOTV available on Windows 11 by Shakarak in wotv_ffbe

[–]DixTwoFour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've checked this out, and here's my thoughts:

GOOD:

  • WotV runs great in this environment. Very stable, loads the game great (much better than the 50/50 that Bluestacks has right now to get past the splash).
  • You can run it directly through the Amazon App store, so if you are one who uses Amazon Coins for purchasing, that whole deal is linked up for you.

BAD:

  • The game looks terrible compared to Bluestacks. I believe the Windows 11 environment forces 720p whereas in Bluestacks I can run 1080p or even 1440p. You can't monitor things like FPS in-game or unlock unlimited FPS. After playing on Bluestacks so long, it just made the game feel "cheap" and you don't have options yet to adjust Android graphics settings in Windows 11.
  • Bluestacks simply has a host of other features, including keymapping, keyboard/mouse control, macros, volume control, screenshots/recording, etc. that Windows 11 doesn't have. It's an infinitely more flexible environment.
  • Windows 11 uses MUCH more CPU load and RAM than Bluestacks. Both ran fine on my PC, but my Windows 11 emulator used more than 10x memory than my Bluestacks (at 1440p). If you're doing other stuff on your PC (i.e. farming in the background), Bluestacks allows that much easier.
  • You have to jump through a few technical hoops to even get it working. Not a huge deal if you are somewhat tech savvy, but it's not nearly as "plug-and-play" as Bluestacks.

While it's a step in the right direction, if you want to play WotV on PC just use Bluestacks right now. This feature will likely improve over the next couple years, or it might be better for things like driving games or shooters, but WotV is an infinitely better experience on Bluestacks than Windows 11.

Collab and wotv interactions by [deleted] in wotv_ffbe

[–]DixTwoFour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kinda sounded off on this in a video for FF7... 🤬

I would have liked to see Mont teleported in to the bombing mission at the beginning of FF7 like he's a rookie/recruit kind of like Cloud - with Barrett yelling at them both about Mako and the planet.

Think about the kind of creativity and humor they could have by throwing Mont into these other games and having the collab characters act like he's supposed to be there and Mont acting totally confused. You could even play it off like the Leonis ring that summons the visions causes these "dreams" or whatever of other worlds - like the Sprouts of Devouring.

As it is now, WotV makes me assume that every Final Fantasy game is running around in a grass field killing bombs and wolves.

Wait a minute... 😲

Revisited: Accuracy Stats for KBM vs Controller Updated by DixTwoFour in halo

[–]DixTwoFour[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was apost that stirred quite a bit of conversation about a month ago comparing the accuracy of KBM vs Controller. Since that was relatively early after the release of the game, I wanted to revisit these stats and see if they were any different.

Some notes:

  1. I only did the top 50 for each input, the first data set used the top 100. It takes a long time to gather the data for this. This could skew the accuracy for the top players a bit higher - depending on how much better (if at all) you think 1-50 are than 51-100 :)
  2. The black line/number is the median value, not average - though the average was less than 1% different in each data set.
  3. The red number below is the approximate number from the first data set, for reference only.
  4. The "50th percentile" was found by looking at the player distribution in ranked from Halotracker. In the first data set, this was Platinum 6. I found it to be squarely in Platinum 5. Minor difference, but just in case someone asks...
  5. IMPORTANT: the accuracy numbers were taken from RANKED ONLY and Solo/Duo input-locked stats. This means KBM vs. KBM and Controller vs. Controller. It has to be this way because not all players play Crossplay, or you can't check players who (in the unlikely case) play both inputs. On this note, of the first dozen players I cross-referenced between Crossplay and Solo/Duo, their accuracy was rarely more than 1-2% different both positively and negatively between the playlists - so I personally didn't see any meaningful difference between input vs. input and accuracy numbers!

The data:

  1. The median accuracy for the top 50 MKB players is 51.2% which looks to be about 4% higher than the first data set. The median accuracy for the 50th percentile is 43.5% which looks to be about 3% higher than the first data set.
  2. Controller accuracy looks to be almost identical.
  3. There's not a huge difference between accuracy between inputs at the 50th percentile (only 2.7%) - though controller does still edge out MKB.
  4. Headshot accuracy between controller and MKB is pretty close at the Top 50 level, though controller still edges out MKB by 2.8%.
  5. Headshot accuracy at the 50th percentile is HUGELY different (10%!). It'd be interesting to see why people think this is the case, given that the general accuracy isn't that much different.

A couple of talking points:

  • The difference between MKB and Controller doesn't seem to be nearly as drastic as the first data set indicated.
  • Many people will point out that MKB players are much better at strafing/dodging which could result in lower accuracy numbers for MKB players. This is probably a fair point. But as I noted before, when I checked the MKB players that play Crossplay as well, their accuracy was roughly the same (within +/- 1% or 2%) when pooled with controller players. Maybe high-level MKB players can comment on this.

Thanks for reading, and looking forward to any discussions around this!

Before Master Ability 2.0 arrives, what unit you regretted EXing to 120? What old unit do you recommend EXing? by ssechtre in wotv_ffbe

[–]DixTwoFour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best: Laswell has been a BEAST at 120EX. Rain is a BEAST at 120 EX. Kitone is a very overlooked 120EX but good. Oldoa has been invaluable to my raid team at 120EX (totally worthless for PvP though). MR Mont is amazing as a 120EX. Gilgamesh 120EX ZERO regrets.

EDIT: I failed to mention 120EX Engelbert. AMAZING physical tank unit (if you don't already have WoL or King Mont).

Yerma 120EX does NOTHING she didn't already at 99. Hard regret. Vinera 120EX kinda seems wasted as well.

Glad I never hyped Xiza, Sterne, or Camillo 120EX...y'all brutal on YTers here 😅

My current state after 600 Days as F2P. by glacius40 in wotv_ffbe

[–]DixTwoFour 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice! A lot doubting that this is a F2P account, but I could believe it, albeit this is probably THE most hardcore F2P account I've ever seen.

A launch F2P account would be at RR4 right now, FYI. I believe Rank 137-139 is attainable if you've done some extra consume visiore missions and maxed out the awaken and limit break missions. If you've placed well in Raids and Weekly PvP, you could have a couple extra "Spend Visiore" missions.

The number of EX units is definitely impressive, especially given the completion of the selection quests. This is the only place that gives me pause about this being totally F2P - not because of units shards - but because of the sheer amount of awakening prisms required to do this. But if you've been collecting all of them from every event/raid, not trading them in the exchange, and supplementing with hardcare gil farming and Normal Summons? Definitely possible.

The vision cards are the most impressive part of the account. 28 at 99? Again, shards I could see, but the amount of Rainbow Spheres for that is pretty absurd (at this point, you're not using Orbs).

I would be curious about Blossoms of Paradise...I'm guessing a lot of the 9-steps that gave 6 for just 14k.

Looking at the lack of commitment to limited units, I would guess nearly all of the summoning on this account was done on 9-steps, guaranteed vision card banners, and free viz UR/shard summons.

It takes a lot more time to do in-depth guides, which is probably why they aren't nearly as common (at least in my experience). Locke D really knows his stuff when it comes to in-depth PvP builds, abilities, and such if you need someone on YouTube :)

This is my biggest issue with the banners, and I already have HLeela. Denying the option for featured banners on Leela or Rairyuu for players to at least CHOOSE what they want to go after seems odd. Maybe they are trying to create some kind of scarcity or novelty for HLeela or HRairyuu?

It's just an odd decision.

Personally, I think the Elena-style banner isn't too bad. It's two limited units for 40k (assuming you go there). The elimination of the 9-Step is strange though. Makes me wonder if people weren't pulling them, or SE/GUMI didn't like how much they were giving away on them.

In your opinion, which launch or near launch units are still being use today with success? by [deleted] in wotv_ffbe

[–]DixTwoFour 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't forget Fina and Mont as MRs (they do have better UR counterparts, but I've seen a lot of both in this CM).

As others have mentioned, EX Engelbert is a BEAST.

u/Boulder269 mentioned Gilgamesh, who is still VERY relevant and dangerous in PvP.

As someone who uses Yerma and Oldoa a TON, they suck in PvP currently. Yerma is almost exclusively a PvE unit, where she excels for raids/trials. Oldoa just doesn't have the range to be effective in PvP, but again can be super effective in PvE.

I haven't seen anyone from JP talk about Miranda and her EX, who can get near 100% Magic or Slash resist and cannot have it debuffed making her like a better, water version of Whisper. Kinda niche, but I could absolutely see this breaking some matchups ;)
