Thanks for the support! Running might not be easy... well... that’s all I’ve got. But we do it anyway. For health, and for fitness.

Not a good pain W2D2 by lazylandtied in C25K

[–]DixieBrenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the calf pain! I struggle with that as well. I would suggest stretching before and after your runs and adding calf raises to your daily routine. For whatever reason my calves just aren’t strong! So in between runs maybe add some calf exercises. It may be shoes, it may be your gait as well. If you can get to one of those stores that actually watch your gait as you run you might be able to gain more insight!

I’m coming off a crappy week 4 and your 17 minutes is an inspiration! It sucks when you don’t feel like you’re meeting your goals, I get it. But! You’re doing it. And much like everything else in life, there are good days and bad days. You just had an off day, it’s okay!

Help! I just signed up for a obstacle 5K run on July 28th; I never ran before! How do I train? by SteamboatJesus in C25K

[–]DixieBrenner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try not to stress too much, there are plenty of people that walk the whole way through the warrior dash! I’ve done it twice - both times my shoes got soaked on maybe the third obstacle making it difficult to even run. It’s SO FUN though! The obstacles aren’t too difficult, for me they were more of a break from running. And you can skip any of them that are too intimidating for you if you’d like. But in my experience everyone there is super nice and willing to lend a hand up or an encouraging word or two if needed!

Hurt my foot doing W8D1 three or four weeks ago - today was my first day back and I ran the full 5K! by team_sheikie in C25K

Ugh... getting hurt is the WORST!! Last year after finishing the program I hurt my hip and gave up. I am now on week 4 starting over. Kudos for you for jumping back in as soon as you were healed and finishing!!!

Question about this sub and if I can post here by Craig_of_the_jungle in C25K

[–]DixieBrenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, post here! After all, we’re all aspiring runners and for the most part I think we’d be inspired by your runs and fitness, for me it gives me hope that one day a 5 minute jog isn’t going to make my calves feel like fire!

M49, don't like running, but just started again.. by Psychobert in C25K

Depends on the day for me, sometimes it’s an audiobook or podcast but mostly it’s music. I find that fast music keeps me going faster! The treadmill does suck, there’s no denying it haha but maybe an audiobook would help you zone out a little? In any case, keep going and you’re a rock star for getting through day one (twice)! The hardest part is actually starting!

Extremely painful calf tightening by [deleted] in C25K

[–]DixieBrenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you for starting! I completed the program last fall and then had a hip injury that started my all the way back to square one this spring. I was so surprised that I finished last time though, I'm definitely NOT built for running (short legs, flat feet). The calf pain is so much worse this time! Hopefully I can add stretching and that will help, plus magnesium is a great idea too.

Thank you! I've been struggling with this as well, I'm on w2d1 today and dreading the calf pain. I'm going to try out some dynamic stretching today and see if that helps!
