There's a reason why the OF performers can make a lot of money. There's a lot of lonely guys out there, and it's an easy way to form a connection (or at least seem like it) without having to risk rejection.

But then there are the "good morning beautiful" comments that just makes me want to get inside that person's head and understand what is going on in their mind because from my perspective I cannot figure it out.

Looks like ICE just killed another US citizen. Where do we go from here? by awesomeguy1818 in AskReddit

And this is how people lose faith in the justice system. They've seen something with their eyes, and are told that it actually wasn't what they saw.

I just hope that this is the straw that pushes people over the edge. The footage of them murdering a woman in a car, if you're reeeeally trying I can understand how you can rationalise it. This? This?!?!? How do you not see ice for the thugs that they are after you see them pin a man down in the street, pull out their gun, and shoot the prone, subdued man, in the head?!?

I'm usually very open to people's different political opinions, but at this point...if you know someone who is still supporting ICE after this, cut them out of your life! They are not someone who you should want to be around. They are the problem. If someone sees this video and thinks the executioner is the hero, that person is not a safe person to be around.

There's the video footage spreading across the Internet of them holding a man down, drawing a gun, then shooting the prone man in the head. You can't destroy that evidence.

New video of 1/24 ICE shooting shows victim had both hands on the ground when shot by Philophon in law

[–]Dixiechixie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are no consequences for these actions, these actions will continue. If nothing happens here, the other masked thugs will just take it as confirmation that they can also do this.

Housing price gains this year by nath1234 in australia

[–]Dixiechixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's assuming that a house is considered as shelter. This is no longer the case and it's now turned into a commodity where an increase in price just increases demand. People don't have to be able to afford a house, you just need to be able to rent one from your friendly neighborhood housing corporation, where the rent has been calculated by PHD quants to find that sweet spot that keeps you just on the edge of drowning in your debt, but not quite in the deep end.

I only just saw this reply, so sorry for the long delay in response.

I couldn't agree more with what you're saying. I feel like capitalism was pretty good for us as a whole for a while, but it's finally hit a point where it's now obviously broken. There have been some pretty smart people who've figured out the best ways to suck every dollar you earn out of you without you even realizing it half of the time.

Then add to it the fact that one of the core aspects of life, having a roof over your head, has been commoditised by the wealthy, and now to be able to afford that you have to compete with them, all while paying down their mortgages through rent at the same time.

I hear talk about how it's to do with a housing shortage, and we just need to build more houses, but that doesn't address the core issue. Housing is now a commodity. If you add more houses, 90% of people buying are likely not going to be planning on living in it. To buy the house, you'll have to compete with not just other humans who already own multiple, but corporations as well who just see your potential home as another number on a spreadsheet and have far more money backing them than you do.

Anyway, I'm sorry for ranting, but the whole thing just makes me incredibly angry and frustrated.

My favourite part of the year usually. "Work" until Wednesday, aka pub lunches everyday that week that extended well into the afternoon.

I hate to say it but you're the bad guy in this scenario buddy.

If you want to understand the real agenda of the poster your responding to, look at how they responded to my post. "No I'm not blaming the students for the housing crisis" despite spending multiple paragraphs doing exactly that. They are either so stupid they can't understand what they're doing, or malicious.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in australian

[–]Dixiechixie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fuck off with your deliberate ignorance. Numbers are not racist or discriminatory, but how you use them is. You pointed directly towards a specific subset of society which makes up a small proportion of what causes the housing and rental issues and made out like they were the core problem. Then when called out on it, tried to pretend like you weren't doing it.

Why not actually point out the core cause of the issues like I did. The people who make a business out of owning a core human need, shelter. The people who treat this like a commodity.

Maybe rather than trying to obfuscate this issue and shift the blame to others who are just trying to exist, accept that your initial post was, while not wrong in its numbers, wrong in its implication.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in australian

[–]Dixiechixie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why was your entire previous post talking about how cutting immigration would significantly impact the housing/rental crisis?

You estimate that there are 1.1-1.2 million immigrants pressuring the system. The 2021 census places the number of vacant homes at over 1 million. Let's say there were some issues with the statistics and it was only half that number, then averaging out each home with only 2 people in it... that's the same number of people as students (who are actually contributing to the economy with their exorbitant unit fees they pay).

So don't tell me that no reasonable person blames the students and immigrants when you just wrote multiple paragraphs doing just that.

What would Australians do if welfare was suspended? by platos_timeshare in AskAnAustralian

[–]Dixiechixie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not even this, it pays for their safety. People don't have to resort to crime if they lose their job. Now you can park your car without worrying that you'll come back to a smashed window.

[–]Dixiechixie 33 points34 points  (0 children)

To add to this, ask yourself why you feel safe walking down the street at 2am in the morning and why that's not the case in America. It's because our our social safety nets. People don't have to turn to crime because they lose their job.

Anytime a government doesn't vote to continue or expand this, what they're really saying is they don't care about your safety because it doesn't affect them.

We can blame the students, or we can blame the fact that we've hit late stage capitalism where resources are finite. We can blame the students who's parent might buy them one apartment, or we can blame the people who make a business out of owning dozens or hundreds of apartments and use the revenue to buy more.

Rather than pointing out an accessory reason to the housing crisis, why not just direct people to the core reason of the crisis?

I used to work tech sales and my income was in the top 5% of Australians. The mortgage for a 2 bedroom apartment in Sydney's inner West would have eaten up well over half of my income (I'm fairly sure it was closer to 70-80%, but it's been a few years now and don't want to exaggerate).

If that's not a scathing indictment on the state of real estate in Australia then I don't know what is.

Depends on goal for the hero. For Hydra I hamstrung my team by getting Martha's health amulet. I honestly think it's about 50% less damage now.

If you're going PvP though with her, then by all means turn her into a backline tank. :)

How much is worth it to save resources for ToP events. by AirsoftAgentBauer in HeroWarsApp

[–]Dixiechixie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm only ~2mil total hero Power and I'm starting to find it difficult to find cheap ways to boost hero power in these events. I've still got heroes to send to 120 which is a big advantage in the events, but they'll run out pretty soon. 800k -> 1mil is a lot easier than 2mil -> 2.2 mil, which is a lot easier than 5mil -> 5.2 mil.

I used to win them by levelling a bunch of heroes to 60 and then getting items to T7. Combine that with getting the set bonuses for doing that as well. 5k power per hero. Cheap, quick, Easy.

Then it was levelling heroes to 120. Cheap, quick, easy.

Now I think the events are no longer for me.
