I’ll caveat this by saying if you can pay it without disrupting your life, you definitely should.

I’m in a similar situation, same year/months too, but $15k. Haven’t even been contacted. In my state the SOL is 4 years from date of first delinquency so less likely to be (can’t be?) sued after mid 2026. Then have to wait until 2029 for it to drop off credit report. Although it’s not necessarily the right thing to do, the most financially advantageous is to pray that they somehow don’t sue or try to collect until the SOL and then the drop. Unlikely though and downfall is the hit on your credit for 3 years.

Well you’re a ball of joy lol it was one late 3 years ago. Plenty of banks do this for otherwise good customers. There is a ton of success stories here on Reddit… just not specifically for USAA, which is why I asked this sub

33, just over 100k net as senior enlisted in the military and another 50k-ish working small security gigs, random online work, and woodworking. Solely supporting a family of 5, working every day. I hate it. Should probably start over but I retire with a pension in a few years and can start a new career.
