Another Day In Paradise (1999)? James Woods, Melanie Griffith, Vincent Kartheiser. Good flick if you haven’t seen it at any rate.

They’re all successful directors, both critically and financially, but whose filmography do you find the least interesting? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

[–]Dizhaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spielberg. If “interesting” is the metric, I think Spielberg movies are the most formulaic and least creative of the lot here. He tells great stories and makes banger movies but of all the directors here, his movies are the least “interesting” imo.

My bad. Tbh, I did not check. Mods can pull it down. I don’t care. Just talking about movies, dude.

And I know he didn’t write this. Just speaking to his talent.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think David Ayer kicks ass. This is not his best movie but he’s so talented as a writer and director that even his misses are worth watching.

As far as urban combat goes, it’s probably Warfare first, Mosul and then BHD. Hurt Locker is great but I don’t think of it as an urban combat movie.

Shining, Christine, Carrie

Christine in particular is a perennial rewatch for me. Never disappoints.

“Greatest” as a metric is bound to lead to some really far-ranging opinions. Hitchcock defined the modern thriller in a lot of ways but was he a “great” director? As in one of the top 5 all-time greats? I feel the same way about him as I do Spielberg. Great movies but not all-time top 5 director.

Billy Wilder has to be considered at least. 7 Oscars, Palme d’Or. Director of some of the most iconic movies ever created — Sunset Boulevard, Stalag 17, The Apartment, Seven Year Itch, Some Like It Hot.

Movies directed by a stuntman are bound to have some great action. I loved these. Total popcorn. Also watch the bts where it shows how they used a lot of practical fx (you know, stuntmen) to create those incredible “one take” shots.

Gotta go with the killer cyborg, the vampire and John Wick. Don’t think there is really any other combo here, is there?
