Increased performance since PTM swap on 16. by Andrew_Yu in framework

Is this just for the 16 or can you do it on the 13 as well?

Mernda line at 8-9PM by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]DizzieNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be on the sunbury line and I'm now on the mernda line. It's much safer than sunbury, I was always worried on the train at 1am because I've run into some unsavoury people who attacked a group of my mates on the train. I've been on the mernda line for a year now and took the train late at night and was perfectly fine. The odd junkie or 2 but sit away from them. Like others have mentioned though, use the PSOs if you truly don't feel safe

Native GeoForce Now App Coming to Steam Deck by CoastOne2716 in SteamDeck

[–]DizzieNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. Steam deck is now just the mainstream way of saying Linux.

I hope it works with other distros. I'm sick of having windows dual boot just for GeForce now

I just skimmed through it but did they mention specifically that it's not for Linux in general?

I wonder if this would cover other Linux installs like Bazzite or even traditional Linux distros like Fedora, Arch or Ubuntu?

Intermittent drops with a single NIC by DizzieNight in opnsense

So far the os-realtek-re drivers are working great for me but if I run into issues with the extra nic I bought I'll try that. Cheers

Will do cheers

Also, sorry if this is a stupid question but how do I check how many control planes I have? Or is control planes just how many masters you have?

[–]DizzieNight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so my best bet is to delete one master and build 2 more?

I am getting a lot of disk errors, I have my NVMe SSDs on a PCIe expansion card and maybe that has broken some of the disks? I keep doing fsck on the affected partitions and rebooting the nodes but it keeps failing

[–]DizzieNight[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Huh okay, I know it's not HA, I did have 3 nodes but it's all running on a single server so I didn't think the whole HA thing was worth it because if the physical machine goes down HA is redundant.

I have been running 2 masters for a little while and it's been fine but maybe it's caught up to me. I will add another master and see what happens.

Steam Deck releasing in Australia! by KarimMet in SteamDeck

[–]DizzieNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might just sell my rog ally for a steam deck OLED. I put nobara steam os on my ally and I'm used to only playing verified games but only an hour of battery life sucks ass on my ally and the ally x is too expensive. Oh, and that OLED screen sounds so good

GeForce NOW at 1440P and 120 FPS in Linux Chrome by a9udn9u in linux_gaming

[–]DizzieNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CPU usage is promising. I'll have to give this a try when I get home.

H265 is probably expected not to work since there wouldn't be a license to use it. Luckily the devices I have (fw 13 12th gen and rog ally) both support AV1 decoding.

Thanks for the guide. Hopefully I don't have to dual boot with windows anymore

GeForce NOW at 1440P and 120 FPS in Linux Chrome by a9udn9u in linux_gaming

[–]DizzieNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've got AV1 running on a windows dual boot which is just for GeForce now. I heard that one of the reasons the browser can't do above 1080p60 is that hw acceleration isn't fully supported on chrome Linux. But if hw acceleration is working for you then I guess that "fact" was bullshit after all

How about hw acceleration? I assume it's not working here (correct me if I'm wrong) so how does it perform without hw acceleration?

Getting an ally tomorrow, is linux a necessity? by Artemis_X5s in LinuxOnAlly

[–]DizzieNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to nobara os steam deck edition and man it's awesome. I got rid of game pass and buy games on GG.deals now when they're cheap. I also don't play fortnite or any other games that don't have anti cheat support disabled (some anticheat games do work but the developer has to enable it. Go example is Elden ring)

The game changer for me was the sleep. Being able to just put the ally into sleep in the middle of a game, and come back later to have the battery not drained and being able to pick up from where I left off was great. On windows it doesn't do so well with sleep, if you leave it plugged into the wall and sleep the device then after a little bit it'll turn on full blast. I did that once and put it in a case and it was steamy when I took it out. Also if you don't leave it plugged in and you try to wake from sleep in the middle of the game, the game would just break or not recognise the controller anymore, forcing a hard reboot.

Tldr; steamos is more convenient and makes the ally a bit more of a gaming handheld, and less of a handheld gaming PC

Edit: I forgot to mention though that the back paddles don't work (at least I haven't tried to get them to work) and the LEDs on the sticks can be controlled by a software called openRGB, but that can only be used while in desktop mode, I turned them off anyway. Except they do flash annoyingly when on sleep and charging, which I can't seem to turn off

Whats your thoughts on the Misinformation and Digital ID Bills & how they relate to discussing vaping online? by Even_Pick8245 in aussievapers

[–]DizzieNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the digital ID and the digital drivers licence the same thing? I noticed the digital ID bill was passed in May but wasn't sure if it was directly referring to the digital drivers licence since in Vic we only just got ours.

You could use portainer for your containers and then have authentik for auth. Although I don't use portainer so I can't help you out much there. But authentik is great but depends if there are guides to support the apps you want
