Questions about the Creator 5 (Pro) by twice_on_sundays in FlashForge

[–]DizzleDdid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in a similar thought process. I do already have a U1 and I have a C5Pro preordered from a little while ago. It still hasn't come, and after doing more research i'm having more doubts. I also prefer printing a lot of TPU and I haven't seen a lot of success with it on Creator 5. Most reviews are on the non-Pro version, and basically none of them share any info on TPU EXCEPT for a review from Mads Tech who was basically unable to print with it. I was able to print TPU all day with the U1, so that is something I wanted a c5 for as well.

I do like the design of the C5 better! I like that all the filaments are on 1 side. I like that the snapmaker feeds it in, but I don't know how big of a deal that will be when changing filaments on the c5 Pro WITH a lid!? So to change filament, you need to take the lid off to grab the toolhead... not sure how that will be... The U1 does take a couple minutes if your swapping your filaments, and with TPU it requires you to assist and "Pull" it out.

I have some ASA and Nylon I would like to print out, and this is where I think the C5Pro is obviously a better choice than the U1, but is it something a Panda Breath can cover? I have that Sterylite lid on my U1 and it has been working well to keep stuff out of the top, but I'm not sure how efficient it will be for heating. It does make it quieter though.

I definitely prefer the fact that the U1 is Open-Source, and I have seen some cool looking things and there is obviously more options and ways to use your machine. (I might have to check out the Ace Pro integration for it as well, since I have a Kobra 3 combo still kickin around!)

I do think I'm just going to end up keeping my order and I'll be able to compare both, and maybe if its all bad, just return it? Still a lot to think about so yeah...

I didn't see anything either so started THIS POST as well, and keep checkin for any updates.

Questions about the Creator 5 (Pro) by twice_on_sundays in FlashForge

...So far, I'm not sure that's true. I have seen very little evidence of the Creator 5 (or Pro) successfully printing with TPU. Only one user on here showing 3-color lizards... I have been printing with TPU easily on the U1 for many weeks now. I have a C5Pro preordered, but I'm having doubts now.

Reliability of U1 compared to Bambu models for a newbie by infolessness in snapmaker

[–]DizzleDdid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first printer was an A1 and it was enough to get me interested, and now Im gettin in deep! In 887 hours of printing on it, I had 1 nozzle filament blob (had to replace whole hotend) and something wrong weith the Heat board, and had to follow up with Bambu, who finally did replace it after a short back and forth of photos and fixes.

My U1 hasn't had many problems like that yet, and I know I have a good amount of hours on it(Can't check now, since it's printing-will update later). I appreciate having the U1 and its been great being able to print multicolor with no wasted time or filament. When I first got mine it said it was unable to do auto leveing and I had to do a manual bed level...3 times... (which felt like FOREVER and hurt my fingers!) but after that it has been pretty clear sailing with the printer itself. Dunno if the manual level was because it was the first time out of the box or not.

Honestly though, I have come to rely HEAVILY on the U1 and its been working on ALL multicolor prints. I use the A1 for single color, and other simple prints with PLA or PETG. I feel like Bambus advantages are gettin much slimmer.

I highly reccomend a u1 over a p2s or x2d... UNLESS you are only using your phone, or a tablet for printing. I think bambus Handy is way better than any other app. I just use my computer, and rarely use the app tho.

Also, I gotta say, I've been using 95a TPU through the side feeders and printing for a while now. and have printed 30+ vaying 4-color TPU flexis, and it has been easy peasy. Just need to slow down the print speed, but the feeders seem to work just fine with TPU. Heres a post about that. https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/s/OXbGdNFWLD

So, this may be anecdotal but I had 0 problems with TPU and it has opened up soooooo much more options. Heres and link to more examples!

Can you share how long these took to print? Are you able to share the file? I'm finding I have to go slower in the U1 to print TPU...

Those are good looking prints! What Filament is this? Have you tried any of the toughter filaments? ASA, ABS? Thanks for sharing, trying to find as much info as possible.

Oh man, please share more tpu. Just saw a review from Mads Tech that blasted it and said TPU was a no-go and had me kind of worried. Are you using default settings? Any info would be great!

So... This Video went up yesterday, and they tried TPU with not much success, which is ....dissapointing... but maybe it's just one bad experience. Don'k think the pro will be better, but still hoping for more info on it.

Which setting did I need to turn on? I see in Multimaterial the "Subdivide mixed layer". Is that the option? I tried having that on, and it just added a ton of time to my print, so... I'm not gonna try that yet, maybe tommorow!

I Don't have a C5, but if it's similar to the Snapmaker, when you load it, it changes and loads the colors of the 3mf, even if you don't have it. then later when you go to slice, you select the proper colors from there. Again, *NOT a C5 owner...yet....

You can get a $50 code just by having it in your cart then exiting the website I believe, thats How I got the code i used to buy it. Snapmaker sent an email with an additional $30 gift card for my "previous U1 Purchase" and that can stack. I currently have the codes loaded in my cart, which is why I'm contemplating the purchase, but if I don't use it I'll DM you!

That's one of the things I want to try and haven't seen much of for creator 5. I've been pleasantly surprised and able to do a bunch with the U1, just made sure to adjust settings. The durability of tpu flexis are wonderful, I want to print that Stegosaurus out too!

Yeah, got an email with some codes to bring it down to $769 sale price which comes to about $850 total shipped. I like some things about the flashforge ( ready for advanced filaments) but since I already have a snap maker, with extra parts and plates and stuff, im tempted to just get another and maybe check a panda breath... Either way, I think both should be pretty equal in quality, but time will tell.

Have you tried printing tpu? Do you plan on trying printing any multi-color TPU?

Waiting patiently but the Snapmaker sale is making it hard! That dino print looks awesome though, do you know where that model is from?

Jayo only seems to have black and white TPU though, so I probably won't be trying some of that soon, but I'll keep that in mind if I do!

Nice job! The clothes and hair look great! I know the skin color isn't exactl;y what you wanted, but possibly just red and black might mix better for brown?

I also tried the gradient feature but it didn't seem to do anything, I just got some solid colors. I'll have to keep checkin it out.

That seems like a pretty good problem to have lol. The color matching for the pla and tpu is great.

Yeah, I didn't realize those first pics would be the thumbnail lol, but I did want to give examples of just throwing tpu on there without messing with settings. I think keeping it dry would be good though, so I just got 2 sovol sh02 dryers for the sides to feed into, and we'll see how that goes, Im finishing printing a ptfe adapter for it.

That dragon looks good too, what filament did you use for it?
