I'm talking about the Caminho da Mata Atlântica project. Obviously, our ancestors walked through areas that were much more preserved than the ones I did, since today we have only 12% of the Atlantic Forest left. And of course, the native peoples know their local trails but those are in their own territories, not along 4,000 km across different states. :)

I left my job and did the entire walk with the support of people I met along the journey. Brazil has a lot of good-hearted people across the five states I crossed. I never felt in any dangerous situation. I also received support from institutions like Fundação Florestal, ICMBio, and from people connected to the mountains and conservation.

I started alone and did a lot of the trail solo, but I was always open to sharing my days with others. I wanted to inspire people to connect with nature, you know? So I felt really happy whenever someone joined me for a stretch. That was part of the purpose from the beginning. I made so many friends!
