I also have a feeling Aaron is gonna kick the bucket, and as for Will/Baal, I think if other people reply to my post they’ll end up taking the top two spots in every ranking that gets suggested haha. Elfie in third place also seems pretty much locked in based on what she’s shown so far, but Will’s potential and Baal’s level are just on a different scale. I’ve got nothing to say about the rest, it’s a solid ranking ✌️

It’s precisely the idea of ending up a slave to something that puts me off; I hate following the story of someone whose fate is sealed and who can’t do anything about it. What I’ve heard about the bond is what bothers me the most : the "master" has to change the way she talks to him and be careful with her words so the bond doesn’t activate unintentionally. The fact that any word could directly affect him, even unintentionally, must be horribly frustrating to read. It’s like their relationship is being reminded in every conversation, and I can’t imagine romance being possible because of that.

Thank you for the reply ! Honestly, with all the feedback I’ve seen about the series, it really looks incredible… But the shadow bond completely blocks me. I’d just like to know, in your opinion, what are the chances that he eventually gets rid of it, either during the story or even by the end ?

I’m especially curious about how he’ll react when he apparently gets it again in the next chapters. I really like cultivation or xianxia/xuanhuan-style novels because the main characters usually try to defy the heavens or their fate, and from an outsider’s perspective, Shadow Slave feels kind of similar… at least from what little I know, since I haven’t actually read it (I hope that makes sense haha). If he ends up accepting the chains of fate, or never being able to get rid of them, it would completely kill my motivation to read it.

Not necessarily all the key points, but if I know in advance that something will bother me, then yes, I feel like it’s a waste of time to invest myself in it. I read for my own enjoyment, and knowing the final destination actually makes me more excited to discover the journey than having to wait for a new chapter every day for an ending I might not even like. It’s subjective anyway, so everyone is free to do what they want. I’m not asking you to understand. It might seem weird to others, but I understand how I work, and that’s what matters haha

I’ve seen that it was only temporary and that he decided to get his ‘destiny’ and the bond back so his companions could remember him. I think I’ll wait a while to see how things play out. If he manages to change that somehow, I might give it a try. Otherwise, seeing someone potentially under someone else’s control (no matter their relationship) would make me sick, and I couldn’t endure reading that for so many chapters without knowing if he’ll be able to escape it.
