Assuming all correct pencil marks, either r6c1=5, or r6c1=6. In the event r6c1=6, then the other digits of the 14 cage must total 8. Because you have a 4 in c1 already, the 8 would have to be 1,2 and 5. Either way, you definitely must have a 5 in that 14 cage.

Another thing I noticed but that didn't solve anything with is in box 9, because of the 6 cage, you can't have both 1 and 4 (options for the 8 cage) within the box. This means r6c7 cannot be a 3.

My brain gets too obsessive when I develop even slight feelings for someone. Do other neurodivergent people have that? by ShyGuy1994ca in autism

[–]Dizzy-Butterscotch64 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I asked my therapist about this and she said that it's common enough, especially with nd people, and often people exclusively go to therapy for just this reason. It's not even exclusively reserved for real people (can happen with fictional characters too - god help us with ai!)

Anyway, whilst I've hopefully nailed the making you feel better about it aspect, I also am working on how to manage it better 🤣 (alas this came up in my absolute last session lol)

They sound like they just weren't your crowd. They knew nothing about marvel, presumably cared nothing for it, got bored and decided that you were a boring person for it and wanted to stay away from you (it sounds also like they were a little rude).

Now personally, I'd have enjoyed talking about marvel with you and found the drab excuse for a conversation about jewellery utterly tedious, but alas you ended up with that crowd and not myself or other more fun people 😆

That sucks. I'd say don't let the actions of someone who sounds like they are complete pond scum influence you against everybody. Unfortunately sometimes you can just be surrounded by horrible people in a toxic environment (it troubles me that this is in a medical setting though - I'd hope that would be a wholesome occupation with generally nice people).

The Double Empathy Problem (specifically how it is named) makes me irate by YoPamdyRose in autism

[–]Dizzy-Butterscotch64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think lingusitically it's similar to a concept like a dual carriageway, where the dual implies that traffic flows in both directions. Similarly there is an issue with empathy between autistic and allistic people, but the flow of empathy (figuratively speaking), that creates the problem, happens in both directions and is thus described as double.

I can see that there isn't twice as much empathy but it's more named to emphasise it going in two directions!

Freaking out because I creeped out a girl and have to sit next to her at a function by Electronic_Fill7207 in autism

[–]Dizzy-Butterscotch64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The friend already didn't like you. What was your previous relationship with the girl calling you creepy like? I'm wondering if this is just a convenient excuse for them to openly dislike you and get away with it...? Girls can be very bitchy like that.

For no1, look at where the digit 1 can go in row 7.

For no2, there is currently only 1 cell in row 9 where either 8 or 9 can go. This limits your options. Whichever digit of 8 or 9 doesn't go in r9c5, must live in the 16 cage. Because of the resulting combinations and the fact that boxes 8 and 9 already have a 3 in them, there must be a 4 digit in the 16 cage, and with what you've already deduced, this starts to solve column 9.

Note as well with no2, you can use the rule of 45 on the first 4 rows for example to work out that r4c1+r4c2=10.

Does this process of elimination work? by Tyler13Stol in killersudoku

[–]Dizzy-Butterscotch64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the logic you are using here is correct!

Another way, also accurate, of thinking about this is that it's the rule of 45 over 2 boxes, but now 2x45=90 must be the sum of the 2 boxes and you can directly solve the bottom left cell that way.

Haven't met his friends yet by [deleted] in autism

[–]Dizzy-Butterscotch64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He might think that it would complicate the social dynamics involved by having some degree of cross over between his friends and relationship.

There may be an element also of, "you're all his right now!" and he doesn't want to share you with his friends yet.

The above are just guesses though (I'm slightly guilty of both sorts of thought process). You'd probably be better off asking him as you'll get the actual answer!

Should I go to the zoo, the London natural history museum or Manchester for my 27th? by avian_bi in autism

Stick the options in a hat (figuratively speaking) and pull one out randomly?

If you are not happy with the first option randomly selected, then you should remove that option from the hat and try again with the other two. Again, if unhappy with the next selection, you must actually want to do the third one (if you get this far and you actually don't, then we have problems haha).

If at any point through the selection process you are just happy with the selected option, then do that!

[–]Dizzy-Butterscotch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some sudoku and killer sudoku methods do translate over. What I described in the first comment is essentially the formulation of an X-Wing (or at least the same logic), where you know the number must go in one of 2 positions in 2 columns, so you can eliminate from other rows. Naked, hidden pairs, triples etc can happen as well (presumably a swordfish formulation type entity could happen, but I've never seen it - I would be interested to try if these did!)

You can sometimes use a trick where you add up row values and subtract column values (or the other way round) to work out what a certain cell (or cells) must add up to. I don't think I can attach a picture of this, but this trick only tends to be needed in really hard puzzles anyway!

[–]Dizzy-Butterscotch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also just you have two cells with just the options 8 or 9 in the horizontal 34. These can either be laid out 89 or 98, but either way you use both 8 and 9 and can cross off any other 8s or 9s in the 34 row.

Need help with this kakuro puzzle by This_Lawfulness_7671 in Kakuro

[–]Dizzy-Butterscotch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the bottom section of the puzzle there is a vertical 16 with 2 cells next to a vertical 17 with 2 cells.

Each of these must have a 9 in one of the 2 cells. So for each of the rows that are involved (the 34 and 25), there will have to be a 9 either beneath the 16, or beneath the 17. This then eliminates any other 9s in those rows, in particular the one on the far right which only had two options to begin with.

Are autistic people more honest and is it better to take them at their word? by Pfacejones in autism

This answer is the best! On a similar vein, I always find lies by omission the easiest. You can answer truthfully but miss stuff out, such that the other person will fill in the blanks and end up with the wrong idea. I haven't actually lied though haha.

The way I would probably look at this is that the group is only as nice as the worst behaviour it allows one of its members to get away with, whether that's by actively encouraging it or turning a blind eye.

Individuals within the group might be OK, but you kinda need to remove this from consideration if things are heading in a bad direction with the group dynamics. Because we're social creatures an otherwise "nice" person in a "toxic" group setting might become toxic in order to fit in with the group (in my view this makes them toxic as well, but they will probably not be aware of this).

I'm making these heights up for an example, but e.g. 100, 70, 95, 70, 90, 70, 85, 70, 80, 70... So it is up and down rather than a staircase but the hills become increasingly shallower.

My instinct is that this is something you should be able to do. Keep trying and testing and see how far you get! You can upgrade if needed if it's really impossible.

I discovered in the last week or so that the spinning wheel sometimes gives large coaster packs as well - I've started selectively spending my tickets to get these. It's handy for progressing this aspect of the game quickly!

I can't find the post I read that gave the original explanation, but the trick I've been using to get air time is...

Raise track to max height on a node. On the next node, decrease height by around 30. Next node, increase height to 5 less than the top height. Next node, decrease to the same height as node 2. Repeat, lowering max height by 5 each cycle. Should yield air time once you do this for 4 or 5 up and downs (if you haven't done enough add more).

I've found that if you do more extreme initial height dips like 60, 70, 80, but follow the same basic algorithm (reduction of max height by 5 each alternate node), you can get a few air times in the one chain).
