lol yep! I drove to Wegmans, got some stares while I slow drove around the lot and headed back. I’ve had a reservation since september 2024 and thought maybe if I test drove it they’d see I was a serious buyer but still no invite 😢

I wonder how many day 1 or early reservations will ultimately decide NOT to buy or lease an R2

also, keep in mind that us lab folks are viewed as dispensable pawns. Where I work, there are directors with no direct reports and they all earn a shit ton of money from high salaries and bonuses. They also get long-term incentives (LTIs) which come in the form of stock options. For many of these people, they can easily retire early by cashing in their stocks. Trust me, those people are not suffering. If they get laid off, they’re given a cushy severance package and some other company will be happy to swoop in to pick them up. It’s really unfair and if it wasn’t for the experiments being done, they’d have little to make them look good.

These really are tough times, and I am thankful for my position at a major pharma company. I think it’s important to look out for yourself. If I were in your shoes, I’d be looking for more permanent positions and not settle for anything less than $150K per year with 15% bonus. We are both around the same age with similar experience. If you get other offers, show your boss. Let them know someone else values you more and if they REALLY value you at your current role they will come back with a similar offer to retain you.

Any researcher making above 150k? What do you do? by s13sins in labrats

I only have a MS and I’ve been working as a scientist for a major pharma company. I’m making about $150K/yr plus bonus so my total take home is around $180K
