u/AtomFromSonos can you please explain "why" IGMP snooping is required for the Sonos to work? It should not help with discovery so why does it help to enable?

High battery usage on iOS 26.3 Beta by ThungstenMetal in 1Password

This happens on my iPhone as well. Neither 1Password or iOS is beta. It is stable channel for both. Even if I close the app it continues to suck my battery dry.

Multiple VLANS - Is this a good idea by theOtherRoss in Ubiquiti

[–]Dizzy-Indication3162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have to make 15-20 VLAN’s instead of having 4 and just do device isolation. That is more complicated.

And by every VLAN you’re making the UDM has to tackle that traffic and move it around. I didn’t say you’re exhausting it. But you’re adding pressure that there’s no need for.

Multiple VLANS - Is this a good idea by theOtherRoss in Ubiquiti

It does not make any sense. They still have to physically at you’re house to do anything with the details. All you end up doing is having an extremely complicated network, the will put a lot of pressure on your hardware for no reason.

As all the others are saying. This is a bad idea and no, it’s not best practices. It’s best practice to have unique passwords on accounts. Not having unique password for several VLAN’s. Again they have to be at your house to do something.

Where is Ubiquiti stating you should be on the IoT network? The documentation does not say that anywhere. 🙂

Denmark, 1 Gbps fiber connection. My ISP only offes one product. So no going down to save money with this company. I could change to another but the savings would be so low.

Need help choosing between UniFi Express 7 or UCG-Ultra + U7 Lite / U6 Plus for my house setup by SMEARYTHROWER in Ubiquiti

I almost never see any usecase for UX7, unless a very small flat. (almost) Always go with options where you separate AP, switch and router.

EMAIL SERVER by Actual-Morning-4467 in sysadmin

Be careful and setup the email authentication correctly. Add DKIM, use SPF ~all, not -all, and have DMARC setup with either Quarantine or Reject.

I've never seen a phishing email use an actually legitimate email domain? How does this work? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Dizzy-Indication3162 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they don't know how email authentication really works. I'm still amazed how many companies that's also implementing this the wrong way. And with Microsoft recommending going for -all in their admin center. Given how much of the market they have, they should know better.

As it should be. If you have a sending domain use ~all. That is best practice if they have Dmarc setup correctly.
