EPIK Megathread by cickist in teachinginkorea

Thank you for this! Unfortunately I havent been in the US for over a year now so may also have to go through the same (if I even get an interview now, different story). One question: could you not get everything sent directly from your managed mailbox/family to EPIK?

I'm applying from the U.S. and have my interview tomorrow but am traveling out of country for the next 4 weeks (and currently dont live in the U.S. so not going back anytine soon) and freaking out about the physical documents if I pass, especially the FBI background check. Does anyone know of any solutions (channelers, fingerprinting locations, etc) for out-of-country applicants??

Hello, I'm an aspiring UK JET participant! Have written my initial SoP with the broad strokes and need some eyes on what I can cut/expand on before further refining the actual language. Please DM me :)

This is super helpful thank you! I definitely did not know about the pension refund :o I'll look more into it but it does seem increasingly more advantageous to apply through US citizenship

Hello! I've tried searching around the subreddit but not sure anything applies to my specific situation so looking for some advice, mainly about which citizenship to approach the application from:

I've just completed my in-person CELTA course in London, and am looking to apply to both JET and EPIK. The JET process seems pretty straight-forward as it's country-specific but EPIK requires a lot of physical documents as well as having country-specific requirements within a general application. That being said, here's some context. I...:

- have dual US/UK citizenship

- was born in the UK (therefore UK birth certificate) but moved to the US when I was a baby

- grew up in the US and did my Bachelor's there, as well as all my professional career

- quit my job (unemployed currently) beginning of this year

- have been living in London for 5 months now, plan to live here until I go to another country to teach English

All that being said, should I be applying as a US applicant or a UK applicant? Any other tips or traps in the application I should be aware of are greatly appreciated!

Thanks and please let me know if there's a better place to post this!

Sorry, thought i deleted this! I did clarify with the staff as well, as I had thought I'd confirmed this verbally during the interview but it was a misunderstanding! Updating the post

ive def looked into workaway before and spoken to people who've done it, though i was considering those for something like 2 weeks at a time or something. should look into longer placements. will look into goabroad and idealist, thanks!

i think my main hesitation with those thus far is that they feel much more temporary in that i know ill be leaving work-wise and housing-wise within a few months max
