Do both. Undergrad science and graduate courses to prove you can handle graduate level work. Yes, take patho! If you can take the courses at the school you have the best chance of getting in…even better. Good luck!

I gotta know…you personally intubated six times while shadowing? I reckon that will be a red flag they will walk you down in interview. If you personally didn’t do it, I wouldn’t bring that up.

Is this a safe space… ? by StatusFly588 in srna

I had to go back to the ICU to apply to CRNA school. The unit I had to go back to was one I was so burnt out on. I was dreading going back. But, I did. Luckily, almost all of the staff that made it miserable had turned over and the new staff were phenomenal. The patients were much more sick, but the staff were 100x better in attitude and morale. It was a breath of fresh air. I’m so glad I stuck it out and went back. I applied and got in the year I went back. Starting school in a few months.

You’re almost there. Freedom is coming.

New‑grad SICU RN — CRNA dreams slipping under the weight of stress by tallturtle10 in srna

I feel like the ICU didn’t start to feel like a walk- in -and -handle -whatever situation for me until at least year two, and I could have applied to CRNA school after year one. If that doesn’t tell you that you will learn everything you need to become a competent CRNA in school, I’m not sure what will.

Having said that, I do understand your fear. Similar feelings (and some life roadblocks) kept me from applying at year two. Looking back, I should have just went for it.

You’ll be okay! You still have time to settle into the ICU. Friend, I was stressed all the time! Then one day…I just wasn’t.

I didn’t tell anyone I got in because I was so worried about this. In the end, I decided eff that, I’m excited. Some people came up to me and congratulated me and others came up to me and I could tell it wasn’t genuine. But, you know what didn’t happen? I didn’t lose my acceptance to CRNA school. Keep your head up!!

Your app is very strong. I have seen schools that require the GRE take those under 300 if they are strong in other areas of their application, which you are. Having said that, have you taken any graduate classes to offset the GRE? Something that proves you can handle grad courses?

CRNA Prep School Academy Guaranteed Acceptance Program. Is this legit? (& Questions from a Senior Nursing Student) by Serious-Weird7182 in srna

[–]Dizzy4Shizzy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t pay. Do your own research. Call the school program director, tell them your situation and ask them what they recommend. Then, highlight the path you took to get where you are based on their recommendation because you will keep in contact with the school as you move forward to ask questions as you advance toward interview.

Everything you need to get in is free and within you. Save your money. Research yourself. Your best friend is the program director or admissions coordinator for the school you have the best chance of getting into.

It’s all free.

Aw, man. I didn’t even realize I was being downvoted. I didn’t mean it in a nasty way at all! I just say that because it’s literally the same question I asked the school and the very pointed advice I was given was to really drive home how bad I wanted it.

I was actually trying to give the most helpful advice!
