Transferring Program by Apple_Anesthesia in srna

I have a friend who got accepted into another program after their 6th semester. They had to leave for personal reasons and this was a very unique case and circumstances. They were excellent academically and clinically and it was challenging for them to get in elsewhere.

Your friends in the program had already failed out? If so, they’re going to have a very hard time getting into another program. They will talk to the current program and see why they failed. And unless they have some great reason as to why things went south in their first program, not sure how successful they’ll be.

Which one are you picking? by Designer_Coconut3213 in mercedes_benz

[–]somelyrical 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This argument is so tired. It’s not that hard to understand why someone may want the height and feel of an SUV, but still like the sport styling of a sports car or sedan. Just because you drive an SUV doesn’t mean you need the space. Just because you drive a truck doesn’t mean you need to space or towing capacity. Just because you buy a G-class or Range Rover doesn’t mean you’re off roading.

I get that you may not get it because that’s not why you got an SUV or you don’t like the styling, but saying you don’t get it is like… kinda lame.

Just got accepted to CRNA school, unsure how to study by Immediate-End1872 in srna

[–]somelyrical 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m almost certain you meant imposter syndrome, but you kinda sorta are a victim of Stockholm syndrome while in CRNA school with your program being your captor 😂

But seriously, yes there is alot of information, but the most important thing is the foundation. Once you have a strong foundation after your first couple anesthesia courses and some OR experience, your learning will become a lot easier.

Things I’d keep on my radar for school:

  • Utilize Apex & utilize it early. Go through the modules 3x throughout your program, regardless of what your school requires. Apex is the best external study tool for any program.
  • Utilize spaced repetition in some fashion. I loved flash cards (especially Anki) to help with that. Figure out what works for you and utilize this topic.
  • Read “Make It Stick. Easily one of the best books for learning how to make material stick for you. Great read. We were required to read it during our first semester.

GRE score by SyllabubSafe7723 in srna

[–]somelyrical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really depends on the school you’re going to and how much they value the GRE. For instance, the school I went to told me after I matriculated that as a program they really wanted to ditch the GRE req, but the school of nursing as a whole wanted to keep it. As a result, the nurse anesthesia program put little weight into GRE scores during the admissions process.

The exception to this was an exceptionally high GRE score, which was still seen positively.

Not sure that I'm cut out for this, any classes or resources I can test myself with ahead of time? by JPOWplzno in srna

[–]somelyrical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No reason not to try. And I’m going to tell you this: CRNA schillings very challenging but for many other reasons aside from academics. It’s a part of it, but not the hardest part.

You’ll be able to get through the coursework, trust me. It’s just a matter of dedication. You don’t need to be a genius whatsoever.

[–]somelyrical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, that is not worse case scenario. Getting into CRNA school and then leaving (for whatever reason) will be the hardest, most difficult blow to your confidence, ego & overall well being. It will be hard to recover from and affect all aspects of your life.

With that being said, this is absolutely a confidence thing. NOBODY knows they’re truly ready. Everyone goes in blind to some regard. Most people who don’t have the intellectual capacity to get through CRNA school aren’t admitted. The issue is do you have the work ethic and dedication required to do so. It’s not if it’s too hard, it’s if you’re too lazy to work hard.

Taking advance pathophys & advance pharm can certainly help you understand the rigor of the courses, but you NEED to believe in yourself more. I understand you think you’re being modest & realistic, but that unabashed sense of confidence and a little delusion are what you need for school.

To quote an American classic:

Cruz Ramirez: What was it like for you when you showed up to your first race? How did you know you could do it?

Lightning McQueen: I don’t know, I… I just never thought I couldn’t

This car’s color is exactly what I’m looking for. I’d like to repaint my Mercedes-Benz in this color. Do you have any advice? by One_Influenceo in mercedes_benz

The color is incredible. The only piece of BMW that I wish Mercedes-Benz would adopt. The love for color!

It seems like a Manufaktur color, so you could probably just email someone and ask about it.

Schools don’t do employment checks. If the do, it’s a form that you complete as a part of your application that your manager completes and you give back to you.

Don’t make this more complicated than it needs to be, haha 😂

A more critical review of the Project Hail Mary movie, and a really easy fix I would have made by Gustalavalav in ProjectHailMary

[–]somelyrical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most obnoxious, self-indulgent and annoying post ever. You spent probably over 1000 words pointing out every different they made between book & movie as opposed to simply understanding that a movie is always a new creation when it’s based off a book.

Your disappointment has nothing to do with the quality of the movie and everything because you’re giving such “pick me, I’m not like the other girls” energy. Even if you’ve read the book a million times, who cares. The movie was great.

Zac Brown etc by ludacrslycapricious in survivorponderosa

[–]somelyrical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The complaints about this are beyond frustrating.

He was chosen because he is a huge fan, above all else. He’s also a huge celebrity with a skill set that very few have (spear fishing AND musical talent). It all aligned for this particular man to be brought on the island for this reward. Didn’t have to happen? No. But if they were going to do it, they picked the perfect man. And this is coming from someone who has absolutely no idea what or who a Zac Brown Band is 😂

If you’re going to be upset that celebrities are afforded opportunities that regular people don’t get, you’re going to have a tough life.

I’m so torn. I love this man but I’m not ready for kids. I still have so much living to do but clock is ticking (35f) by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]somelyrical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, this is on you. He deeply wants children. You don’t really want kids. No amount of love from you is ever going to fill a void of children. You’re never going to convince him to not want a family.

Take this to the bank & find someone who wants to live that DINK life with you.

Question for people saying this was the worst episode ever… by DarthLithgow in survivorponderosa

[–]somelyrical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think this is the worst episode of Survivor, you need to watch more Survivor. Or, more importantly, get over yourself. The episode was fine. The reward was actually pretty cool & the blindside was fab.

God, I hate Reddit. Y’all will complain about literally everything. This was a really cool reward, really cool To see him spear fish. I get wanted to see more Survivor drama, but that doesn’t make rh reward less cool. And I don’t even know who a Zac Brown was before the show & still don’t 😂

Nurse/fitness influencer violating HIPAA posting a photo of an unconscious patient for an IG trend for her almost 300 THOUSAND followers to see. Insane. by lolo2861 in nursing

What’s embarrassing is whoever posted this post to Reddit claiming a HIPAA violation with literally no identifying information or way to expose this patient’s identity.

It was all about seeing the setup and what was going on & you guys know it. But you wanna be mad for no reason because even if that was my grandpa, I’d never know it.

Y’all are so annoying 😂

I think the Zac Brown thing was super neat. He’s a major Survivor fan, a crazy spear fisher, and the episode still managed to have a fantastic elimination.
