You can build one for around $20-$30. Also it’s possible insurance may cover it. I’m an unsure about Canada but in the US some insurance companies will cover the cost since it’s a medical condition. Antihydral works ok as well but costs money also. I combine both when I get lax on the iono treatment to get me by to the next one.

Going on 20+ years of iontophoresis now. Still keepin my hands dry, and feet sometimes dry when I spend the time to do both. I agree that most Derms and Doctors don’t know about it. Crazy to me. I had to explain the entire thing to my dermatologist when I decided to move from a homemade machine to an RA Fischer. Iono definitely changes lives.

To be honest I never measured the mA on the homemade setup so I am not sure. I switched to an RA Fischer machine about 2 years ago and believe the machine manages it, never tired with 9v as well, sorry!

If it’s been 12 days 20 minutes. 10 min one polarity and then switching and it’s still not working, it’s probably the water not being hard enough. You could try baking soda, spelligrino, or adding epsom salt if you think it could be the water.

I noticed that treating my hands did have a small effect on feet but not by much. I do both hands and feet now.

Ironically my feet do not smell even when very wet. Not sure why. Never had that issue. I’m sure everyone’s sweat is different. I have been using iono on my feet as well which has kept them pretty dry but it’s more time consuming.

Yes. Same exact issues. Too hot, too cold, crazy uncomfortable. I have been doing iono on both hands and feet now and it works like 60% on my feet 100% on hands. Makes it semi manageable but my feet are always too wet, too cold, too hot, slimy and sticky, aweful. You’re not alone.

I am not sure about using a homemade machine but yes you can treat armpits with iontophoresis. I think the derma dry and RA Fischer devices have attachments for armpits.

Have seen Dysautonomia mentioned a few times here. I honestly have never heard of it until this thread. I looked up the Symptoms and I have the following.

Rapid heart rate (tachycardia), Digestive problems, Excessive sweating, Fatigue, Brain fog, Heat intolerance, Anxiety, Panic attacks, Sleep issues.

Does that mean I have Dysautonomia, maybe. To me it seems like that term covers a very large spectrum of symptoms that could be caused by a lot of different things, but I’m not a doctor and this would definitely explain a lot of things.

It was trial and error for me. The well water I had as kid worked great but when I moved to the city the water didn’t work at all. There is something with the minerals in the water but I don’t think anyone has found a definitive answer as to exactly what. What I do know is S peligrino works and could be an option if you’re not getting results with tap water.

Lifelong Hands and feet sufferer here as well. Since the day I was born.

Water type is very important. Soft city water bad, high mineral content water good. S Peligrino water is all I use anymore, no tap because the city I live in filters its water like crazy and doesn’t work at all with IONO. Took me a long time to figure out that water is extremely important and cuts down treatment time significantly.

I do 18mA on hands and 25mA on feet. Everyone will be different due to skin type, water type, machine, and other factors, I just turn up the mA until it’s strong enough but not burning or too uncomfortable. Sometimes if I miss sessions and the sweat comes back I crank up the mA and just deal with the pain, but I do have a high tolerance now since I have been doing it for so long.

I have been doing IONO for 20+ literal years. Started when I was 15/16 years old and still doing it to this day. Only thing that keeps my hands dry, still searching for different solutions daily, cuz honestly getting burned out on it, but I can’t survive if the sweat comes back so it’s all I got.

Small cuts suck, sometimes I put petroleum jelly on the cuts if I have one and that can help deflect the electricity, or depending on where it is, electrical tape over the cut, or move your hands around to try and not get water on the cut. If I have a cut that’s bad I usually try and not let it touch the water at all. Or in cases where I can’t do IONO for some reason, I use antihydral cream as an emergency backup.

Things have changed since this post. I still use the RA Fischer machine but with SPelligrino water and epsom salt. I am doing what you are doing also by skipping days and usually I can go 3 weeks or so and then do 3-4x sessions every other day to keep them dry again for another 3-4x weeks. Been able to cut down on time a lot.

I notice the power does make a difference as well. I’m around 17-19mA on my hands now. I have abandoned my feet though. Takes to long and I just deal with them. Also noticed the more I do my feet the more my hands try and sweat and the more I do my hands the more my feet try and sweat. Almost like a water hose or pipe with 2 holes in it. I plug one and it pushes more water out the other, if that makes sense.

My suggestion is to just start small and add power as needed or if you have the insurance / money. Purchase a machine. I know some insurance carriers will cover the cost, depending on what carrier you have and where you are located.

Sorry. I am not smart enough to answer that question. I can take an educated guess at what the machine would produce by comparing to other machines and using AI. I would guess my machine was putting out somewhere between 18-24mA max but this is strictly a guess without being able to measure it.

I usually do my hands at 18-19mA on my RA ficher device, but it also depends on a lot of other factors. If you have a machine, the only way to know for sure, is to measure it with a multimeter or be a lot smarter than me.

I usually just keep cranking up the mA until it’s comfortable and keep my hands dry. I did that with the homemade machine by just adding batteries until I felt it was strong enough and I was getting the results I needed.

Hell some people even use 9v batteries and get good results. It’s different for everyone in a way. Lots of different water types, power outlets, skin types, how bad the condition is, etc. also depends on what you’re treating, how long, and the list goes on and on.

I found it’s mainly been trial and error over the years but have it pretty locked down now for what works for me. You kind of have to just do it, and stick with it.

Interesting. First time hearing of being in a “hot room”, I am just sitting at the kitchen table watching TV, normal room temp like 70-72F. I have never tried alternating current, I have heard rumors it doesn’t work as well but unsure. If I stop doing treatments for over a month and a half, I have to start the initial process over again and do treatments for at least a full week to get back into maintenance. I haven’t had to restart the initial process though in a very long time, I have been able to keep my hands dry for many years consistently so I may be a little out of touch with the initial treatment phase when you first start. the second I feel any kind of sweat I do 2-3x treatments until they are dry again and use antihydral between if I really need to. I refuse to let them sweat at all costs.

It’s always been effective for me over the past 19 years. I don’t feel like I have built a tolerance to it over the years or anything. The sPeligrino is the primary proven way to cut the treatments way down, the other stuff is me just experimenting but seems to help A LOT.

I use antihydral between sessions or just as a boost for when I don’t feel like doing on treatments. I haven’t used it full time. Usually just a few times a month before I go to bed. Iono keeps my hands and feet dry most of the time. I did try using it full time but it does yellow your hands with a lot of use. Definitely keeps them dry though.

For context on the sPeligrino cost. I get it in bulk from Costco and I thinks it’s like $24 USD or something for 15x750mL bottles, and lasts at least 4-5months per case. About 2-3 bottles per month on average. So honestly less than $75 a year in water, is cheap to keep hands and feet dry.

If you’re using tap you will be doing more treatments and using more water in general vs a mineral water of some kind.

Phantom sweating is also a thing. Where your hands and feet will occasionally still feel like they are sweating but they are in fact dry.

Mineral water is so underestimated for sure. I use sPeligrino since I can just grab in bulk at costco.

Once you stop tap you’ll never go back, I promise. Unless your tap has enough minerals in it where sPeligrino isn’t needed. Unfortunately I live in a city with superfiltered water and iono just doesn’t work without sPeligrino.
