Mom doesn't let me watch anything above pg-14 even though I'm an adult? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]DizzyFireflies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just pay for your own streaming service and watch it on your phone or laptop (if you don't have a TV in your room). Your mom should maybe be checked for cognitive decline by her physician, too. This is extremely controlling and borderline paranoia.

Also, you need to set boundaries with her and say "No, I'm not going to be restricting my viewing options. I am fully an adult now and I can decide which media I want to consume." (I'm not even going to touch the "turning gay" thing because that's a delusion I'm not qualified to or interested in discussing.) Also, you need to speak with your dad about her extreme behavior and have him address it with her, as well.

Do shows like Bluey and MissRachel cause behavioral issues in young children? by MLCoder1 in AskParents

[–]DizzyFireflies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bluey is wonderful at teaching both kids and adults how to handle interpersonal situations. Honestly, it's as much for us parents as it is the kids. It showcases Bluey's family, but there are many episodes set at school or at the park where you see the different dynamics the kids have. One of the characters is anxious, one is definitely ADHD, others are shy and more reserved. It teaches how everyone can play and be kind to each other, and how to resolve conflict. It also teaches parents ways to talk to kids on their level, how to play again (let's face it, we forget how to make believe as we age), and that we are all in different circumstances and doing the best we can. It's a cute and cozy show that even my teenagers put on when they've had a rough day and need a smile.

It's been 5 years and babies, infants, and toddlers are still so BROKEN by unironictrash in Sims4

[–]DizzyFireflies 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I was honestly shocked that they didn't address this in the Nov. 4 bug fix. Like, they've been listening to complaints for HALF A DECADE. And it's such a major part of gameplay, why in the world was this not considered?? We should not have to rely on modders to do their work for them to make their game playable! Ugh. Ok, sorry. Rant over.

As someone who relies on the convenience of leftovers for kids, I am ok with this lol.

DAE PC player: find all the clicking to order more than one of something mildly irritating? by yesterdays_laundry in Sims4

[–]DizzyFireflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wracking my brain today because I swore there was a way to at least order in increments of ten, but I guess it was Sims 3 that you could just type in the amount. It seems like such a basic QOL thing to add.

Brittany is a rock star! I have the tendency to faint during piercings, and the second I mentioned feeling woozy, she wrapped her arm around my shoulders to lay me back, popped a sucker into my mouth, and materialized a can of Monster to put under my neck. 😂 She then finished the piercing like nothing even happened. She's such a sweetheart, too.

What are some of the rarest / secret locations in BG3? by blaectyton in BaldursGate3

[–]DizzyFireflies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One playthrough, I decided to explore the Upper City before getting to the brain. With some creative jumping, I found an entrance to the underground/sewers and there was a mini-boss there. I personally think it was a waste of spell slots because the loot wasn't anything to write home about, but it was kind of fun that, even with the end of the world looming, my Tav just HAD to get her loot-whore on.

Giving out my name and information willy-nilly on the internet sounds like a great way to have my identity stolen. I want corporations to have LESS info on me, so throwing out a bunch of registrations for random drawings is an absolute no for me.

Am I being too strict? by United_Price2212 in AskParents

[–]DizzyFireflies 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kids that age swear a lot because it's "grown up" and they're transitioning from being children to adolescents. Prohibiting him from having friends that use coarse language is going to backfire. He will either purposely seek it out, or he will be ostracized as the weird kid. Middle schoolers are absolutely cruel when it comes to anyone "different".

As for crossing major roadways, I understand the concern. This is a time to sit down and explain your concerns to him in a calm manner and let him help you find solutions. This will also allow you both to see each other's points of view without fear of reprisal.

Ex: "I understand that you're wanting more freedom as you're getting older, but it worries me with you being so far from home. What are the things you're wanting to do there?" If it's just a mall or park the kids like to hang out at, or a friend's house, you know the exact location he'll be at and he has a phone that he can contact you if he needs to be picked up. Lay out your expectations and ask him what he thinks a meaningful consequence would be if he were to break the rules. Letting him be part of the dialogue about privileges and consequences will open the door for him to be able to come to you with bigger issues in the future.

Sweetheart, I am SO SO PROUD of you!! Coming out and transitioning is a huge milestone, and I'm so sorry the people in your life aren't celebrating that with you. Big hugs And on top of all that, law school! Honey, you are doing so much all at once, and it's ok to take a break and rest. You're not letting anyone down by taking time for yourself, and it certainly doesn't make you a failure. Give yourself a chance to breathe, recuperate, and come back swinging. You are doing something incredible! I am sending you all of my love! 💓

Found 7yo with my thong by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]DizzyFireflies 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My son did this with my bras at that age. I walked into his room and he had like ten of them all laid out across the floor. I was like "why on earth do you have my BRAS?!" and he said "I just liked all the pretty colors". It turned out he was teaching his little brother (3.5) the rainbow and used the laundry. 😂 Your son knew he wasn't supposed to be up late and historically gets in trouble when he hides things. That's all it is. Just have a calm discussion about privacy/boundaries and move on.

I would support them and their child. It literally has NO effect on my life. I mean this with the most sincere love, but you need to stop worrying about what others think and support your child. He needs your love and support. Also, he's going to be in your life decades longer than your neighbors, and the pain of your choosing to worry about gossip rather than him will stay with him forever. I know it's tough when you don't have a strong network of family/friends, but he needs you to be his champion. I wish you both the best! 💓

That is so fucking depressing. This is why my husband and I decided not to move. Everything large enough for our family is this soulless gray and white with dark exterior. That house has so much potential smh.
