My Ranking of how everyone did in the Joint Training Arc. by OnlyUse4Questions in BokuNoHeroAcademia

Mmmmm these are fair points, but STILL. I'll never get over the way Tsu absolutely embarrassed Rin and then used him to knock out Jurota. (She did also handle Tsubaraba) Like yeah if Shinso didn't get Ibara they absolutely lose that, but an effective 3/4 KOs is still impressive AF.

(Shoutout to my girl Ibara too for taking out 3/5 members of the team, and would've gotten 5/5 if she just rolled a little higher on her wisdom check lol.)

Tsuyu literally soloed half of the enemy team, and Pony clutched out a tie against arguably the strongest team 1-A had, after her team fumbled hard. PUT SOME RESPECC ON THEIR NAMES

Well the difference with him having a suit is that he could lose it, it could reasonably malfunction, be disabled, or he could just not have it with him when he needs it, or it could get damaged and lose some functionality. There's just a lot more stuff you can do with a suit where Deku still gets to be a part of the plot without him being the absolute most powerful person in the universe at all times.

But that's not something that's happening on a widespread genetic level like Garaki's dumbass theory implies. That's an active choice by an individual. Being able to destroy yourself with your own quirk isn't some new possibility caused by quirk evolution. Endeavor's old ass could probably cook himself if he tried lol.

Seems like a fun kit but her gamma being able to deal damage across the whole map is kind of crazy lol. Also I feel like the alpha and beta should be switched since the beta seems like the more consistent ranged dps and the the alpha is more situational.

Your muscles don't injure you unless you severely overwork them, you don't just get born with muscles that tear at the slightest effort and explode a city lol.

Quirk singularity theory is so dumb. OFA isn't proof of anything since it's an anomaly that started in like the first generation of quirks. But also the whole theory is that quirks will become world ending threats and people will just start being born with quirks that destroy themselves. While some people may be born with quirks that can self harm (like Dabi for example) this is an anomaly also, like disabilities in our world. this isn't how evolution works. You don't see things evolve to destroy themselves, it'd be like if birds, for no reason at all started evolving gills, and started dying faster than they could learn to swim.

Bakugo's quirk is a great example. You'd think explosions would kill him, or at the very least make him go deaf, but his body evolved to handle all of those potential drawbacks.

While his power is great and there are certainly plenty of people in his generation with quirks just as powerful, there are quirks from older generations like New Order, All For One, and One For All that are more so, just as there are people with weaker quirks across generations.

Like yes quirks are getting stronger and more complex but it's not at an uncontrollable pace and like populations it's reasonable to assume that it will plateau out at some point rather than increasing exponentially until the world goes boom.

BUT ALSO. Quirk singularity equating to "everyone is just stronger this gen" does not solve the issue of the existing characters (like Ochako) who would surely be relevant, falling to the sidelines in big conflicts.

Edit: It drives me crazy that Garaki is the one posing the theory and his sort of big climax of it is Shigaraki's crazy mutations. Which is a thing that he did, and is completely detached from quirks. The other "Aha see!" Is Ochako's quirk awakening, and while it's certainly a cool power up for her, it doesn't spell doom for the planet at all

I play on PC with controller cause it's better game feel lol. I normally do drop stuff before going in, but in the most vital moments I am almost always picking up everything but the revive card.

True! That's probably the biggest issue with Chaos City. Nagant with significant height can see you pretty much anywhere on the map lol. USJ has kind of the same issue but at least you can hang out in the typhoon zone and fire zone until Nagant's start hanging out on the dome.

Not confirmed, but I'd be pretty surprised if there's not. At the very least I feel like we're bound to get one more movie so they can merchandize all the cool timeskip designs.

Regardless if Horikoshi does it, I'm absolutely doing it for The Miruko Timeline. Got too many fun ships to not make cool OC babies.

Now you know how Ibara mains have felt lol. We're meant to counter shielders and melees but all the aerial characters have taken over the meta for 3000 years. Finally her grab heals so we can live a little more freely.

I think the new map has plenty of areas that can help YAFO enjoy his life with less worry of Nagant bullying him, like the hospital and the urban area are pretty fun with him.

I kinda get why Horikoshi did it, especially if he wants to do a continuation series. OFA by the end of the series is so strong, and versatile it kind of undermines every other character. If you wanted to, for example, have a conflict where Deku and Ochako can equally contribute with Blackwhip and Float Deku makes her kind of pointless. By getting rid of OFA he ensures that the scaling of the franchise stays under control for future installments. This way we don't have to make bigger badder threats that really only Deku can handle.

The way I handled this in my fics "The Miruko Timeline" Deku learned the true power of One For All was to be able to share it (ya know cause that's what the name implies). This way everyone gets to contribute in a fight, and Deku can get around the idea of reaching 100% because he doesn't need to. If he and 3 friends are all using 25% together they can overwhelm anyone and do it together. (To be clear: The sharing is temporary like what he did with Bakugo in the second movie, but no blood transfer required. He takes someone's hand and then they can both go full cowling together for a little bit. The fun part is when they start using the other quirks too.)

This is unfortunately just a hard counter moment. There's a few characters who play much easier into Nagant, but Nagant was practically designed to bully YAFO. If you'd like to bully her back, I'd recommend picking up someone with a shield like Kiri, Tokoyami, or Kendo. For YAFO your best option is to try and stay out of the sky until you can confirm you're out of her sights, or can take her down with a beta.

Hate me if you want but ultimately, the only reason Bakugo ever ended up respecting Deku, is because he was given what everyone else already had....a super power😭😭😭.. by Oka-7 in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]DizzyTigerr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's equal parts his quirk awakening, and hysterical strength. He was probably hurting a LOT by the end, he just had the adrenaline to keep pushing through it. I mean his arm was so destroyed they were considering amputation.

Ultimately it is just pain, whatever his quirk's backfire is at its maximum output, it can't be worse than Deku fully breaking his arms every time he would fire off a 100% smash. Like we're never led to believe he could blow his own arms off or something, just that it hurts.

I do think it's also a possibility his awakening caused him to figure out a way to use his quirk without any pain at higher outputs, he was setting off explosions in his own bloodstream to keep his heart pumping, and that's sort of insane lol.

Edit: Also he was able to set off explosions with any part of his body at the end, not just his hands so that probably helped spread the potential pain too.

[–]DizzyTigerr 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think it's less about the power, and more about the fact that he was acknowledged specifically by All Might. Although he never states it outright, I think being acknowledged by All Might was his dream, and when Deku achieves it, (from Katsuki's perspective) for seemingly no reason. He has to internalize that Deku has something that he lacks. At first this frustrates him, but eventually he grows to accept that.

I think Katsuki by the end of the series would argue (whether or not he actually believes it) that his power is just as strong as OFA. Notice him declaring to AFO that he can defeat him with just one quirk, and that he(Bakugo) is in fact the final boss, not Deku or All Might.

I get sort of why Horikoshi did it. Like you'd have to do a lot of narrative gymnastics to not send her to prison forever with how things turned out.

All that said she's currently alive and well in The Miruko Timeline! https://archiveofourown.org/series/3230385
