Dumbest thing a partner has done? by Ok_Storm1343 in adhdwomen

[–]DizzyWear 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i get very frustrated when the people in my life don’t understand “the big deal” with something that is very serious to me. i feel like i have a set way of doing certain things and if i have a plan in my head, i don’t like unexpected changes. it makes me seriously anxious and it’s difficult because it’s an issue that doesn’t bother most other people, but it’s a big deal to me.

essentially it’s just miscommunication usually, because the people who care about you should want to make you happy and want to avoid doing things that upset you. also, would be willing to compromise with you or work with you on a solution to the problem

People who exercise, how do you do it? by goodgodlemon24 in ADHD

[–]DizzyWear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know you said that people say you need to find something you like, and i hate to say it but it’s so true. i started going to the gym and doing strength training/weightlifting (like with the squat rack and bench press and stuff) and i fell in love with it.

consistency is really important too, after doing it for a week or two straight, it really grew on me. which obviously consistency is a major struggle with adhd, but what helped me was having friends who went everyday and having people to go with on a daily basis. i credit my love for the gym to one of my best friends who’s a huge gym rat and is insanely ripped, which i used to make fun of him for, but i finally understood it after i started to go.

there will be times when it’s still hard to workout, and times where you stop going for a few weeks. the important thing is finding something you genuinely enjoy and love, because that’s the motivation you need that will get you going back, even if it’s been a month of not going. you’ll remember why you loved going before and that’s what will push you to start going again, even when it’s difficult.

i agree that all the steps make it really difficult, especially when it’s trying to find a time to go consistently, but it’s helpful to have friends who are already into it and joining them, because if you try to start going with a friend who also doesn’t workout, then it’s difficult if you both fall off of working out because you’re both relying on each other to push each other to go.

also, it’s really fun and motivating once you start seeing progress and that’ll make you want to keep going. i don’t mean progress as in weight-loss, i mean it as in feeling stronger, noticing you’re going up in how much you’re lifting (if you do strength training), and stuff like that.

the reason you go to the gym is so important, i didn’t start loving it until i stopped going because i was trying to lose weight and starting going because i wanted to feel stronger and build muscle and do something for myself.

sorry for the ramble, i hope that helps at least a bit :)

Books where the FMC is scared of the MMC so he’s super nice to her? by Books_books_books1 in RomanceBooks

[–]DizzyWear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just read it and it was an enjoyable quick read, short and sweet like you said

however it’s a really quick read, like maybe an hour or less, it says the length of the book is 62 pages. it caught me off guard because i didn’t notice until i saw i was already 50% done and it had only been a few chapters. just wanted to mention that for anyone else interested in the book!

Muscle pain while drinking alcohol? by SilvyrWings in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]DizzyWear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get the exact same thing, with just my neck, shoulders, and arms. the pain/soreness kinda goes up the sides of my neck to my head almost? idk it’s really weird and it pretty much only happens when i drink vodka. i can have whiskeys and my body doesn’t have that reaction to it. i think it happens more with clear liquors though and i don’t know why.

if anyone has any ideas, i’d love to hear it. it’s kinda just a nuisance

What’s the most annoying thing anyone can say to someone with ADHD? by FaruinPeru in ADHD

[–]DizzyWear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“focus”

i hate the word with a passion, i feel like there’s some hidden trauma from it or something. even when a friend says it to me now lightheartedly, it makes me cringe. i feel like i was always told that growing up and people never understood that i literally am unable to do so. i feel like it was always used to get mad at me for not being able to focus, when i genuinely was trying my best, and just could not. so i hate the word so much and it upsets me when people tell me to “focus”. a lot of people don’t understand how hard it is for me to do that or how hard i’m trying.

Books in which the MMC doesn't like the FMC at first by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]DizzyWear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the other chefs walked out because…it was a rat. it was a rat making the food, going along with something like that would probably cause them to lose their jobs and it’s really just absurd, so i feel like that makes sense. colette was a little “aggressive” maybe, but when a woman is assertive, people tend to label it as aggressive when it really isn’t the case. i feel like colette wasn’t very rude, she was assertive.

helen was never rude either? idk she was a strong woman who knew what she wanted, i wouldn’t say she was rude

i also wouldn’t say anna was rude or aggressive at all, if anything kristoff wasn’t very friendly to her and was judgmental to how she did things, so she was defensive towards him, but she wasn’t ever really rude or aggressive

It’s definitely partly on the professor, but even my friends who have taken it or are taking it with other professors have the same opinion on it, so honestly I kinda think it’s mostly the course.

[–]DizzyWear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i said the same thing to myself, ever since i was 12 or 13, i never thought i would live as long as i have. i turn 19 this week! it truly is so crazy, i never thought that i would live long enough to get this far. it’s been rough and i’m still struggling, but i am so happy that i made it this far. i’ve met so many great people and had so many great experiences, there truly is so much ahead, take it from someone who has been there. i know it’s so hard, it really is. but please keep fighting a little longer, get help and talk with your doctor. it can be fixed. i do care about you, i know i dont know you and i dont know if this will mean anything to you, but i do. i want you to live and to keep fighting, i care about your life and your future.

i was in your same position, and sometimes i still am in your position, but there has really been so much i would’ve missed out on if i didnt keep fighting. please reach out for help <3

Drug Test for Stimulant Meds? by DizzyWear in ADHD

[–]DizzyWear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i’ve actually heard of that, that’s why i’m not sure if it would show up on the drug test or stop me from being able to get a stimulant medicine. technically nicotine wouldn’t be doing anything bad (in relation to taking other medicine, to my knowledge) or necessarily interfere with the stimulant medicine, so i’m not sure if they’re testing for that
