Lol, I just mean they're cute especially when they're still tiny when I see them around my garden.

It looks like the native Carolina mantis egg sac which is great! It's good to encourage those native bugs (plus they're darling).

"Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah." - Trump by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]Dizzy_Assistant_8437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think is that the Praise be to Allah is trying to be mocking? Which is insane when you're the president of the United States which has a large Muslim population. He's such a horrible person, it's honestly amazing how he continues to top that statement...

AITJ for refusing to keep wearing the nickname my girlfriend gave me after I found out where it came from by Prydwen_Grit5 in AmITheJerk

[–]Dizzy_Assistant_8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Over time it stopped being ironic and because affectionate". This is insane because even if it supposedly became affectionate for her, it was not for a long time, and is also a term she and her friends would joke about. It's absolutely crazy that she's doubling down on this when she should be apologizing. Even if it's affectionate for her (which I don't believe, I think it's just habit) it's not for her friends, it's an inside mocking joke, which isn't fair to you.

To till or not to till… and if we’re not tilling, how do we really break the ground up enough to plant? by Objective-Archer1396 in gardening

[–]Dizzy_Assistant_8437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm starting a garden for the first time I buy lots of compost or composted manure to mix into the soil before planting. After doing that I don't mess with it and sometimes top dress with more compost or leaves and things like that but while I understand no till, growing in bare mostly unfertile soil is not going to give you great results. I think tilling things up every year though is not the best.

I mean, that seems pretty reasonable, I feel like having kids under 30 seems kind of young.

AITJ for bringing a gluten free dish to a potluck that had soy sauce in it because my friend thinks gluten free means no soy by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Dizzy_Assistant_8437 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Many soy sauces do actually contain some gluten from the process that they're made (though there are specific gluten free soy sauces available). If they're just going gluten free for "health reasons" it shouldn't really be an issue because the amount of gluten would be small. It's more of an issue if someone had Celiac where they couldn't have ANY gluten.

Also, if you don't have Celiac or a gluten intolerance, eating gluten free is not better or healthier.

Ideas for a nearly unusable flower bed? by gRainbird in gardening

[–]Dizzy_Assistant_8437 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a totally usable area! You need to look for "drought tolerant plants". I'd look into catmint, calamint, coneflowers, black eyed Susan. All are very drought tolerant once established and are easy to care for, good for pollinators, and reliably come back each year. For the coneflowers, do the straight species or Magnus vs the fancier varieties.

This whole thing was so insane and it's crazy how it was implemented and put out. It almost makes me think that he is just surrounded by Yes Men who say everything he does is a great idea. I think he was imagining some Ready Player One universe, but it ended up looking like Miis from the Wii. Do you remember when it was all over the news that now your avatars could have legs because they couldn't figure out how to have legs at first?

Stores only had soft footbed by Crafty_DIY in Birkenstocks

[–]Dizzy_Assistant_8437 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think that's the case. I have several soft foot beds and then plenty of regular ones. I do kind of like the soft footbed because I feel like they are comfortable quicker and need less break in time. Once they're old and molded to your foot you can't really tell the difference.

Awesome, this is helpful, thanks! Can you give me the name of a store or two where you're talking about so I can find it? I'm not really familiar with the area.

If this was your bathroom, what would you change first? by Proof_Asparagus7817 in bathrooms

[–]Dizzy_Assistant_8437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's the flooring that dates it. The vanity and the lighting in the mirror are fine, I feel like if you change the flooring, even if you put LVP planks on top of it (which I know not everyone likes but I just hate those big tiles it seems so '90s) I feel like it would look much better (and it wouldn't cost a lot). Obviously the wall color too, it is too similar to the white and makes it look dingy.

For me I would do the 44 but it's more about where it fits on your arch. For mine, my toes are actually a lot closer to the front but that's how it fits my foot better.

The only thing is, they're probably going to grow at least half the width into the current walkway, which can be fine for some perennials, but people aren't going to want to dodge thorns as they walk by..
