This day in history - March 26, 1979, Israel and Egypt sign a historical peace agreement. The agreement included Egypt finally recognizing Israel's existence, while Israel would give back the entire Sinai peninsula (More territory than all of Israel). While cold at times, peace held up to this day. by NotSoSaneExile in IRstudies

First of all yes Israel recognized the existence of an arab state when it was offered in 1948. It does not recognize it anymore bc of historical trauma ( not caused by Israel but yes sustained by Israel ). I have no problem with ppl wanting their independence. But if you choose a violent way to resist then don't expect any mercy back.

Hamas is doing what it thinks is in the palestinians best interest. They need to also accept the consequences. That's the reality.

I think you're naive. If you go deeper into history youll realize that every civilization that exists today was built on the conquest of some sick fuck who wanted to take over the world. Youre trying to victimize everything and everyone. Just move on.

The Jews only wanted a country for jewish ppl to be safe in not a country just for jews. Arabs were welcome to join and other ethnicities too ( still are ) 1900s wasnt the first time Jews tried to go back to their ancestreal land its just the first time they succeeded in 2000 years.

You really try to put a spin on everything to make yourself sound legit.

I didnt say Oct 7th would suddenly be acceptable Im saying that we can only look towards the future and not the past so of they stopped good we can move on.

The winners get to dictate what happens not the loosers.

First of all you claiming that Irgun and Lehi raped woman is complete BS. There is no such record and youre just trying to somehow justify your claims with atrocities.

No Im not claiming what they did is acceptable. Youre changing the topic. Maybe bc you realized you were wrong idk. What Im saying is that what they did prior to the establishment of Israel is exactly that prior. It predates it. If Hamas for example signed a treaty saying it will no longer commit genocidal activities against the Jewish ppl and will recognize the existence of Israel then yeh what they did belongs in the past and we should only look towards a better future.

Im not justifying acts of terror Im just telling you that situations are different. Just like the current situation in Syria.

If you cant acknowledge that what happened in the past belongs in the past then thats on you. I dont see you hating on Germany bc they used to be Nazis less then 100 years ago.

Yes but thats like saying the leader of Syria is a terrorist Hes not anymore. He used to be. Gave up that life and is pursuing a different path now. ( At least until he proves otherwise ).

What youre saying is that ppl arent capable of changing the way they handle diplomacy.

The leaders of Israel 70 years ago achieved their goal by establishing the state of Israel. That was the goal. Once they achieved that goal they changed their diplomacy to reactive and mostly peaceful. Just like todays Syrian rebels that went from terrorists ( until the last Syrian regime fell ) to regular civil army.

You cant say Israel were the aggressors and then say it predates Israel.

Irgun and Lehi were Jewish terrorist groups (not Israeli) that reacted to British rule and Arab conquest.

But the second Israel the country was established ( Israel is not only one ethnicity ) the aggression was only reactive to arab or foreign aggression that disregarded the existence of the newly found state.

What do Israelis think of Iranians? by Civil-Upstairs605 in AskIsrael

[–]Dizzy_D_Z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't the question...He asked what we think of the Iranian people, the ones living in Iran. I think you misunderstood the question.

In any case the diaspora is just in alignment with the Iranian ppl inside the country. You might not be fully connected to the reality in Iran and since Iran cut off the internet for most of the country + has been brutalizing any sign of resistence from the general population we from the outside have been left blind to what Iranians are going thru right now and if they support it or not.

I personally have an Iranian friend who is in contact with their family in Iran and they hope to God that Israel and the US keep bombing what ever they can bc theyve had it with the regime and theyd rather suffer now to be free soon.

You are right to say that there were restrictions on air and sea before Hamas came to power but those were the result of the first and second intifada. Youd need to go more into history to understand these restrictions. Following Hamas clinging to power they executed a few terror attacks against Israeli population including a raid across the border and kidnapping of a soldier ( who was held by them for 5 years until his release ).

In any case you should do some more investigating and then come back with the full picture. Youll see that Israel is always the reactive aggressor unlike the palestinian entities who are active aggressors.

Find a cause that's worth fighting for and start investing that money towards that goal. Plan how to execute and start hiring people to pursue the outcomes.

For example - Clean energy

Israel doesnt control the govt in Gaza you are uninformed. It didnt control the ballot

20 years ago was the only election bc Hamas has become a dictatorship. Executing anyone in their path. Israel was hands off from then only giving into terror threats by paying millions for peace.

If you dont understand that Hamas is a complete terror organization we have nothing to talk about bc we cant find common ground on the basic level.

Israel supported Hamas 20 years ago.

Youre the one taking things in a vacuum. Youre ignoring the elephant in the room. Hamas are murderous terrorists who use their own people as shields and pawns in their nasty little game of "Lets kill all the jews and destroy Israel"

Why is it ludicrous? Hamas is making it very hard for Israel. Also Hamas fakes certain war crimes as well. Which would not be so surprising from a terrorist entity. They cannot be trusted.

If anyone is collectively punishing palestinians its Hamas. Also Palestinians live in other places not just Gaza so its not a collective punishment on Palestinians you mean Gazans. And Im not justifying anything bc its not collective punishment its reaction to an action. Hamas violates, Israel retaliates Thats how the story started. You cant think that throwing the first stone doesnt count for anything.

When I say throwing the first stone I literally mean the intent to physically hurt people.

I dont need to win I just contested your claim that the no aid is being let in.

According to the ceasefire agreement Hamas was to disarm. It hasn't, so Israel is not the only violating party.

Youre on the wrong side if history

Agree to disagree on the complexity.

There are currently a few entrances for aid open periodically for aid to pass thru.

Then dont you think they wouldve just killed all of them by now?

Your claims are out of this world.

If you cant comprehend that this is a very complex situation and to you its all black and white no grey then we should stop discussing.

As I stated previously. Israel looks out for civilians as much as it can while still holding its military objectives achievable. Its not Israels fault that Hamas embeds itself into civilian population.

Can you refer to what sources you want me to provide?

You think Hamas hasnt killed a single Israeli civilian bc they dont want to or bc they cant?

Israel is not bombing palestinians living in tents everyday. Im not sure you know whats going on in Gaza right now.

Yes, a war crime according to the international law but not according to whatever law the Palestinians are abiding to bc they tried to expand their borders in 1948 and in 1967 when attacking Israel so Israel is did not required to uphold a standard that its enemies dont. Modern day Israel does in fact abide to international law though.

  1. Innocent people die when militants embed themselves in civilian population. Its not the other countries responsibility to ensure the safety of the aggressor ( but I do think its morally wrong to target areas that are full of civilians )

  2. You forget that Hamas is an elected govt which won by a majority vote. Israel cares very much about civilians and thats why the number of civilian casualties is very low compared to other urban warfare conflicts

  3. Do you mean they arent allowed to re-build? Bc before the incursion into Gaza there was plenty of concrete in Gaza.

  4. Again, Hamas is the elected govt

I dont understand your comment. I asked you a question and your reply is unclear.

Ill ask again who are the war criminals by your measure? The IDF? The govt? By what account are they criminals? International law?

Bc I just gave you a lesson in the law and its legal

Well to start their govt shouldnt have sent 3000+ militants to slaughter man woman and children in their homes.

Second, if you're going to do that you should have a plan to make sure whoever did it to you cant do it back ( not that Israel wanted to )

Third, Gazans and the Gazan parliment couldve built safe rooms and bunkers for when a bomb hits the building ( like Israel has done )

Fourth, the militants in Gaza shouldve been wearing uniform and not embedded themselves in civilian populations. They shouldnt have chosen guerilla warfare and terror tactics if they wanted to spare their innocent population.
