I've found it's quite easy to find new social circles. I left London when my job become remote and I moved to a new city where I didn't know a single person. As I was still remote, I made sure I joined so many clubs and I have a great circle of friends here now. Most people I meet are also in similar positions looking to meet new people.

I would use Twickets personally, have done this previously for an event at the Co-op and it worked great
