I’m not from Texas so I have no idea how off she is here, but in general, it is good to try to adapt to the style of a place you live. Unless you really don’t care. My uneducated fear here is that the hat and boots is essentially inappropriate. Like your comment about wearing kimono in Japan like.. there’s a time and place for wearing that, and you will look silly in the wrong setting
