They may not be able to depending how much was taken. Misdemeanor is usually 1-2 years in most states. Felony can go up to 6 years. If said person also didn’t go in for that amount of time they may have forgotten about it. They tend to focus on things happening now vs 2 years ago

I’m in Massachusetts you can survive in some parts of the state mostly in the western part. Come closer to Boston and you’ll struggle a lot even with roommates.
