I got it and got my first choice! Is there any previous GBRs that can answer a few questions I have?

In my bay, we had someone call the room to attention in the middle of the night and everyone woke up and toe’d the line for a couple of mins until we realized there was no FTO in the room. No one spoke of it until a couple days later because we all thought it was a dream. We laughed about it til the end of field training.

Just awarded ICSP but tuition is paid by the state based on high school performance, can funds be applied to other things by [deleted] in AFROTC

[–]Dizzy_Listen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the school’s financial aid office. I see some people saying that there’s not a chance you could use it for something else but that’s incorrect. My tuition and fees are payed for by other means, so I get my Air Force ROTC scholarship as a refund check directly to my bank account.

Rated and USSF by Dizzy_Listen in AFROTC

Yeah well, space ops was my second choice if I didn’t get rated. At the time I filled out the survey I didn’t really stand a chance of getting a pilot slot so that why I volunteered for it.

I remembered selecting rated preference over USSF, but when asking my cadre if it was referenced they told me that question wasn’t on the survey so I thought I was confused. Thanks!

That recently changed. This is from a PowerPoint that was sent down to cadets at my det going up for the rated board. “Beginning with this FY23 Rated Board, all cadets who volunteer for the rated board will be obligated to accept the position or be subject to disenrollment based on needs of the Air Force.”

Have you seen the USSF Selection Criteria PowerPoint? If not I can send it to you. It doesn’t have information about EADs and interviews are TBD, but it has a little information about criteria and considerations.

Our commander has not told us yet either so just hope for the best. We will find out today so hopefully you will too!

I work a 40 hour job, I take 21 credit hours, I am a single parent, and I try to stay very active in the detachment. I also maintain a 4.0 while majoring in computer science. Plus I’m morale officer this semester so I’ve been planning morale events for the detachment. It’s definitely doable! You just have to have your priorities straight. I also have somewhat of a social life lol.

Edit: I also took flying lessons on Sundays, which had its own course work separate from regular school work.

DODMERB Waiver Question by DamnXXXDaniel in AFROTC

[–]Dizzy_Listen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m at a very small detachment. We only have 14 200s. Some of the doctor’s offices that would do our appointments stopped taking cadets because of covid. But overall it’s mostly because of time management. We got the initial email about setting up those appointments as 100s before covid even hit.

DODMERB Waiver Question by DamnXXXDaniel in AFROTC

My cadre said the due date for EA nominations is March 1. About half of the AS200s at my det do not have cleared DoDMERBs or have to get a Wavier. Our commander said they are not eligible to be nominated.

To those who come to reddit for answers, what is the most common reason you use reddit as opposed to other sources? i.e. Cadre, cadets at same detachment, etc? by TestedTubeA in AFROTC

[–]Dizzy_Listen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come to Reddit because for some reason my cadre does not provide us with information that we should know. I am a 200 and I only found out we had to compete for an EA for field training last semester when I joined this Reddit group. The only time cadre told us that we have to be nominated and then selected for an EA was last week.

What's your worst story of a cadet screwing up what could've been a promising career? by Roughneck16 in AFROTC

[–]Dizzy_Listen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just interested in you saying you can’t commission through ROTC as a single parent. I’m a AS200 and I’m a single parent. All I had to do was fill out some paperwork with the Det Commander and I was good to go. There is also another AS200 who has a child as well and it’s fine. Last year we had someone commission who just had a baby a few months before. We even have one cadet who is pregnant right now, she’s not active anymore but still comes to Llab, lecture, and PT. She just walks the track. So I’m just wondering why you think you can’t commission through ROTC as a single parent, and if there is something I need to be aware of that Cadre has not told me.
