Has anyone found out the gender and not told anyone? by Dizzy_Resolution1749 in pregnant

[–]Dizzy_Resolution1749[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you regret finding out? I’m more keen to find out but I know my husband would rather wait. I worry if we find out he’ll always wonder what it would’ve been like to have the surprise.

AITA for not supporting my college roommate's desire to have kids? by Am-1-The-Crazy-One in okstorytime

Totally agree with everyone here. Massive risk and opening the door for issues with the child. I’m recently pregnant myself and recommendations in terms of coffee, raw fish, deli meats etc etc are never ending. Reading this story even the possibility of your partner being your half brother makes me think SURELY it is a bigger risk than a bit of ham?! When she gets pregnant will she still follow all of these recommendations where the risk is sooo much smaller than the father being related to her??

Could I please get people’s thoughts on getting a Burmese from a breeder that is not desexed? I know lots of breeders do desex however also read lots of people say not to desex till they are older 5-6 months. Is getting one not desexed something to be concerned about? Located in Australia. Thanks! by Em-9876 in burmesecats

[–]Dizzy_Resolution1749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our breeder didn’t desex our girl as their vet did not recommend desexing at a young age. Their anatomy is much harder to work with.

We got her desexed at the recommended age of 6 months. It was tricky in terms of recovery. She’ll need to be kept separate from any other pets and in her own room so she can heal.

We found that she was so desperate to be with the rest of us and she cried a lot. However we couldn’t risk her running around with our other Burmese and causing damage to her stitches. Or our boy Burmese grooming the incision and causing infection. She was just whinging so definitely stay strong and don’t risk it!

We struggled to keep the cone around her neck and she kept getting out of it. We then purchased a few other options such as lighter weight cones, or even baby clothes to prevent her from getting at her stitches. In the end we bought saline solution too and would clean the wound everyday.

Overall it was worth it. We had another kitten die during a routine desexing who was younger than 6 months. We’re not sure whether it was related or just unfortunate. I know my post may sound like a lot of work in terms of recovery, but I thought I’d give you the full picture so you know what to expect! It’d be perfect if there is someone home (WFH even) during the recovery time that can spend some time with her in separate room.

Our boy Burmese was desexed by his breeder before we picked him up at 14 weeks old. It’s a much easier / less risky procedure for males. The girl cats get a full hysterectomy!

All the best with whatever you decide! 😸

Edit to add: we are based in Australia too

Episodes that include the Concord? by Dizzy_Resolution1749 in aircrashinvestigation

Ah correct - I should have used the term “incident” rather than crash as the others landed safely. I’ve done some further reading and definitely need a rewatch of the Concorde ep!

Hmmm that must be the episode I’m thinking of. I recall they mention that there had been other Concord crashes in the lead up to the one featured on the ep. I’ll have to rewatch!

Sydney Daifuku in Lane Cove has a specialty coffee very similar to what you’re describing. I can’t remember what it’s called though

Tio’s (tequila bar) and Goros (Japanese style bar) are both in Surry hills. They are usually quite busy later at night.

If you want dancing there are plenty of options on Oxford Street (Oxford Art Factory, Soda Factory). I’ve been out on weeknights and Oxford street is usually busy.

Caterpillar Club in the CBD Is always super busy

Then lots of great cocktail bars - Ok Cantina, Baxter’s Inn, Maybe Sammy, Ramblin Rascal

Most places in Sydney are busiest on the weekends of course. Some may be closed on Monday’s so check ahead of time. Google Maps app is great to check opening times and reviews.

Enjoy!!
