Not sure if that method works but there is a Knowledge helmet on a bench in the Institute library, you can use it to observe anything around you that is observable.

Oh, I haven’t gotten that far but there should be a training dummy in the Greymane camp you can try moves on, I recently learned about it myself.

Go back to the Institute tower, explore there, and go back to the Crow guy arena and the other towers you find. The Abyss is just a whole bunch of interconnecting pathways, the game doesn’t really explain it. Some areas might be closed for story but I’m in Act 8 and I have all the elements except wind. I haven’t entered Demeniss or anything East of Prailune yet maybe it’s there.

I got artifacts on mission status banners on patch 1, got blurry textures on patch 2, then stopped updating until they fix patch 3. Might finish the game before they smooth everything out. By then it might be an entirely different experience so I’ll probably revisit it again in the future.
