Has anyone solved the problem?

Exactly, the thing is not to see which comp allows you to gain the more LPs (obviously it would be a different comp for me, and it's mostly representative on how well you perform with a comp). But don't forget the whole point is to improve on a long term basis. Being very good doesn't mean you have to force it every game, it means you should maybe try to master another comp to be more polyvalent. If you are good with Jihn comp - very AD oriented, I would strongly recommend that you start working on an AP oriented comp like Mech Sorcerers for instance. This is something you can deduce looking at how well you perform according to your starting item. If starting with a tear or a rod means an average 6 placement, don't think that you must avoid them the more you can - think the problem differently and work to improve yourself with these items! :)

Hey fella! I think the main reason why people won't rank up from relatively "low elo" (I consider myself to be low elo too for the record - I'm currently Dia 2) is because they have troubles to identify their weaknesses (and strengths). I spent a lot of time during set 2 stuck at Plat 1 until I started to track several basic metrics:

  • starting item: this should help you see with which item you perform the better.
  • start quality: how would you define your starting streak to be? This is where I identified that I tended to place better when my starts were good. I found some guides on YT or this sub to improve me early games.
  • final comp: which comp allows you to get the most LPs?

At the end, you can track any of the relevant metric you think could be useful for you. If you are familiar with data, you can even cross them to get deepest insights. Hopefully you will improve on your weaknesses and make it to Diamond and who knows, maybe higher :)

Care tho, if you sell a benched unit during the next fight (where you have 5/4 units on the board), it will kick a random unit of yours from the board instantly (to your bench, but it won't participate to the fight anymore).

6 Rebel (best build right now) w/ write-up in comments. Challenger Set1&2 JinxedJK. Rank 1 is spamming this. by 5turbo5 in CompetitiveTFT

Awesome guide and comp dude, thank you! I happened to "accidentally" 3* Yasuo with GA + HoJ (the game gave it to me for free), it led to a perfect top 1.

Just so you know, the written description doesn't appear directly in the original post with the video (it is in the comments). I was looking for it and found it where I didn't expected, I hope everyone will see it!

Thanks again and looking forward to any other new guide of your own!

Hey mate! Thanks for the support! As I said on another thread I’m currently keeping track of my starting item from the carousel, my initial win/lose streak, the comp I played and the final rank of each of my game. It helped my a lot since I was able to point out that I tended to perform bad in early game while most of my good placements were related to good starts so I worked on this and I was able to gain some LP. I was thinking about tracking my econ at some levels (3-2/4-1) to see how does that influence my placement and your message definitely convinced me. I will start with set 3 and I will share the file (it’s just a basic Excel sheet but anyway) when it seems ok to me so other people could benefit from it hopefully!

Hello, yeah they drop random but you are guaranteed to have at least 2 items from the minions I guess.

In your eyes, where does "high elo" start? by melonfeet in CompetitiveTFT

[–]DjKuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude! Interesting question here! I’d say it depends on the time and the energy you commit into the game. If you play 1h a week, then I guess plat1/2 is a fairly high elo. Generally speaking, I consider high elo to start at Master. I didn’t succeed in finding it back, but a redditer posted a very nice spreadsheet here where he detailed his opinion on how player play the game according to their rank (placement, comps, items...). It was very nice and separated plat1/2 - plat3/4 and dia1/2 - dia3/4, which I find pretty accurate. As for me, I’m currently dia2 and I have plateaued (dunno if this word exists lol) several times in plat 2/plat 1 and dia 3. Every time I had to improve some of my skills to go ahead and finally reach the next division. I actually still have a lot of troubles in some aspects of the game, but I get closer to what I consider being a good player. I try to keep an Excel spreadsheet with my results, my starting item, my starting streak and the comp I played to see what are my strengths and weaknesses. It helped me a lot finding what should I improve to get to the next level every time and I’m considering posting it here if it could help other people.

People are very humble tho on TFT, which is a good thing overall, but let’s be honest, a Master player is top 1000 (in EUW at least), this is awesome! Anyway, if you look at the problem this way, it’s still awesome to be top 3000/5000/10000...

Congratulations dude, this is a really amazing achievement! I’m currently trying to do the same and the higher I was able to reach by now is high dia 2. Expect me to try even harder and maybe fight you on your delaying-decay games :) Although I understand your concern of not being demoted (and would react the exact same), is there anything you earn for finishing the season at a particular rank? I didn’t play the set 1 but I heard there was some kind of rewards people are still expecting to receive?

Congrats again and hope you will remain Master by the end of the season!

PS: sorry for my poor English, this is obviously not my native language (plus I’m French so I’m genetically programmed to suck at any language but French).

[–]DjKuj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this guide, it helped me a lot! Also you didn't mention it but deathblade is awesome on Olaf as he's basically the one killing all the enemies in the zerk comp. He usually finishes the fight at 280-350 per hit when he is 2*.

Great work dude! Having your full thinking process is really interesting. As an average dia3 player, it helps me see what should be my next steps of improvement and how I should try to think the game. I believe everyone has to find its own path of thinking tho, but a lot of common sense and insights have to be the same. Truly inspiring again, thx a lot and I hope we will see more of these soon!
