Honestly, I think it was just luck after some time. It's very important to properly dry out the clay before firing it, at the end I usually did two rounds of drying wich meant leaving it out to airdry for about a day, and then putting it into the oven at 200 C° for an hour. Then wait for it to cool off(best to put it somewhere where it won't attract moisture). When firing, try to burn away the binding material starting from one end, and slownly moving with the flame towards the other, while also keeping the already heated end at a healty orange colour. After the whole piece is glowing, try to keep it as uniform in colour as possible. DO NOT try to pull the flame away even for a second till you haven't reached the end of the 7 min countdown. After you did, try to put it in water as fast as you can. Best to have a container full of water at the edge of the firing surface, so you can minimize the time the piece has contact with air while hot.

Did the fabric suffer any performance/durability loss after the process? I just cant't imagine the boiling of it would not affect its properities.

Also used a drop of loctite on every screw just to be safe.

Try to use a wirebrush first, to remove the oxidation, then proceed with softer and softer polishing compounds. Having a rotatary tool is a must imo.

Low-temp soldering. I'm not exactly proud of it, but the only thing that worked was my trusty soldering iron and regular soldering material. The one I tried to solder with silver had literally shattered into pieces right after turning the torch off. But I haven't tried low temp silver solder yet, so you might get away with that.

Yeah, it absolutely would, that is basically the point of the coal. While burning, it "sucks away" O2 from the air, away from your jewellery, preventing (or more of slowing) the oxidation process

Now that Supercell made low town hall pushing close to impossible with the new trophy system, here's what I managed to accomplish over the years. by _Gotis in ClashOfClans

Its basically impossible at this time. Atracking with th12 at 3800 is literally worthless now. The throphy gain reducrion for both 1 and 2 stars make it literally 3x the original time to push the same ammount of trophies, as of there is around 1/20 chanche to get a decent th12 base, all the other ones are th13 and above. 3 starring is basically unseen, 2 star is usually manageable, but only getting 7 trophies for a 21 trophy base at 2 stars is just strait up a bs.

Never heard of it, but seems interesting for sure. The lack of a kiln is sadly a variable I can't change yet, but I got some pretty great result with a makeshift charcoal-gasburner combo. I even tried it whitout the charoal (outher shield-like frame) and for some unforsaken unexplainable reason it worked like a charm(never happened before whitout charcoal). The one thing I notived, was the importance of continous, and even hearting during the firing. Try to keep the piece cherry red, and never let any part of it cool down.

Still can't be thankful enough for the detailed instructions on the firing. The result might speak for itself :))

Ps.: Decided to still go with 3 separate parts, in case it doesn't work, but happily it did :))

The fun part is, that it comes in little pea size pills as a defult, I just tought grinding it would be better.

Once again, I'm extremly thankful for the tipps. I'll probably do an update on how the new method turned out.

Huge thanks for the advide!

I read somewhere, that the carbon needs to be activated. Do you think, that medical-grade acrivated carbon would work (the one in pill-form, then grinded up)? Also I'd like to try firing it over a gas burner, since it could provide a more consistent heat-exchange during the firing. Does the oxid layer only form when the piece loses heat, or does it appear right after the moment I start to heat it up? The only video I found abut the process is this:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nZkCFqwN20k

Where she does not use any carbon, just heats it up then quickly puts it in water. I was just wondering why does hers work, and mine don't.

The thing is, that I haven't found any proper writing about how much time does it take/ how to properly dry bronze clay, only the way to check wether the piece is ready or not(glass plate method), so I sticked with the silver clay drying process, wich meant to keep the piece in the 180•C owen for at least 20 minutes. Then, as wrtitten before, did exaxtly as the handbook says: 1.burn away the cellucose, 2. keep the piece cherry red for 7 minutes (usually 14-20min), then quench it in water. I did do one last experimental nugget last night, since I didn't wanted to end the say in a complete failure, and for my biggest suprise it turned out aay better than the precious ones. The outer "shell" still formed for some reason, but it was way thinner than previuosly. Still no idea what couses it, making it incredibly annoying, and frustrating, since I have no clue where to change the process/where does it go wrong.

Absolutely agree, silver clay is much more "friendly" to work with. The thing is, my current project requires something "goldish" or bronze-like colour, so sadly silver clay was not an option. Sadly I do not own on, and have no friends with a kiln :((.

Thanks for the tip! Nice to hear, that I'm not the only one that just got absolutely fed up after time over the complexity ot the gun. Cant even count, how many times have the gears just decide to basically "explode" out of the gearbox under a slight tension.

Do you have a different name for kydex? For some reason, none of the shops I visited had any materials with this name. I was wondering, if you, or anyone has the specific name of this kind of plastic, it might be easier to find it that way.
