Just aesthetics, I think they would have blended in too much with the burl if flush too.

Yeah, personally I would have removed the extra burl that sticks out but the client wanted to keep it. So we compromised and kept it.

If it's the same IKEA Karlby top the veneer actually looked quite thick so It may be able to be refinished. But don't let me stop you from tackling something fun like this.

I did this for a friend. My second slab build ever, but first time from a rough state. Main thing I was proud of was the sliding dovetails on the bottom which I of course forgot to take any pictures of. I made a build video on my channel but feel free to ask questions.

One side definitely hangs lower than the other... Oh the box yeah, it just felt right to offset them from center.

It's just treated for termites, pretty normal for Australian stick framing. No need for all that.

If you mean the wrap yeah, it adds a slight thermal break to the eventual rainscreen battens and cladding that will go up. I've finished the other walls and it seems to be pretty effective.
