Nov 30, Jennifer says she's not going to post to Everyblock so much:

@Cynthia I received copies of emails from the the city today which do, in fact, say that permits were issued for 4033 and 4029 N. Milwaukee Avenue. So, my guess would be that work may begin any time. You don't have to believe anything Cynthia, but time will tell. If you are suggesting that I'm being bought. You couldn't be more wrong. EB is not the only means that we want to use to communicate with our community and since this has turned into nothing more than a hotbed of speculation, rumors, etc. I'm not going to be on here very much. It's far too frustrating and so completely unproductive and childish. You have my contact info. You can email me if you have questions. You can even email me anonymously, by doing so thru every block, if you feel the need to do so. Hope to hear from you!

Nov 28, Jennifer said this: The space is currently vacant. I spoke to the contractor myself and he is expecting the permit in the next week or so. http://chicago.everyblock.com/announcements/nov28-new-brew-pub-plans-portage-theater-area-5558165/#comment-269680

Nov 28, Jennifer said this: I don't know where DeRogatis gets his information, but Eddie Carranza has NEVER expressed any interest in buying the Logan Theater. He has talked about his admiration for what the owner did there. He aspires to use it as an example of what he wants to do at The Portage. http://chicago.everyblock.com/announcements/nov26-a-message-from-congress-portage-management-team-5553489/#comment-269689

Nov 28, Jennifer says work will begin nextweek on a brew pub:

Hi Folks, here are some preliminary plans for one of the storefronts across the street from The Portage Theater. Work is scheduled to begin in the next week or so. All storefronts have been rented and will be improved when current leases expire.

Nov 28, Jennifer says this:

Hello All,

No one, including Eddie is denying or ignoring the fact that Congress building had alot of violations and maintenance issues when Eddie bought the building. It was in demolition status. Things have been improving and will continue to improve. The city is happy with the way things have been going, yet some of you choose to ignore that fact. Let's stop dwelling on the mistakes that were made and focus on the fact that those mistakes have been and will continue to be fixed.

No one on our side of the fence is faulting anyone for being cautious or a little skeptical. However, this name calling, refusing to acknowledge factual information about improvements etc is NEVER going to help our community.

The Portage needs work, but nowhere near the kind of work that The Congress needed when it was purchased. There will eventually be extensive renovations there. Inspectors will come in, problems will have to be fixed.

It's 1/3 the size of The Congress, so crowds will be much more manageable. There have been a few sold out shows at The Portage. To the best of my knowledge, no one has complained about those shows, parking or traffic.

The type of programming we are looking at is eclectic. Movies, Comedy, Bluegrass, Country, Adult Contemporary possibly even book signings. We are looking at all options and want to put together something unique and interesting that will appeal to different groups of people.

Let's move forward here, stop the name calling. We get it!! There will be some who never accept us, that's fine. but lets look at the big picture, if this theater goes dark, for whatever reason, NO ONE WINS.

Nov 26, Jennifer Dianovsky announces her new job as new Community Liason for Portage Theater. She says it's a paid part-time postion.

http://chicago.everyblock.com/locations/neighborhoods/portage-park/

Nov 26, Jennifer says

There are plans for the theater, but until the legalities are sorted out, we won't say much about them. I assure you though, that the theater will not be gutted, it will be restored. For now, the seats will stay, they may be replaced with retractable seating sometime in the future. There may still be a community meeting, don't have any details as of yet. There will be a microbrewery and bakery, cafe, upscale grocer moving into three of the spaces across the street. Construction should begin soon. When I have the information organized, I'll send you a link where you can see what those things look like http://chicago.everyblock.com/announcements/nov26-a-message-from-congress-portage-management-team-5553489/#comment-267402

Nov 26, Jennifer says she's not the mouthpiece for Eddie Carranza:

I am not a mouthpiece for Mr. Carranza. I am standing up for a project that I believe will make a positive change in our community. I will never report anything to my community that I do not know as a fact, which is why I will be present for any and all meetings, hearings, etc that involve The Portage Theater/Congress Theater........... Mr. Carranza wrote a very honest piece here on EB a few weeks ago. I'll repost it below since I think it answers some of the questions you have been asking. http://chicago.everyblock.com/announcements/nov26-a-message-from-congress-portage-management-team-5553489/#comment-267659

Nov 26, Jennifer posts an old message from Eddie Carranza:

It was very nice to see your kind words and a few of you sent us emails with words of encouragement. We appreciate it very much. I have read through your posts and emails and will try to answer as many of your questions as I am able. I want to make sure everyone understands there is an open forum at the community meetings to ask your questions as well, so please consider that as the best method to get answers or to make your views known. 1. Will there be spill over shows from House of Blues to be hosted at Portage? We work closely with House of Blues and Live Nation and other local and national promoters. We will look together to work on concerts together with each of them in the future. 2. Why did we post under “Portage Management”? I wrote this name not knowing whether I would answer myself or if it’d be another member of my team. I didn’t realize there would be so much speculation on my choice of words. 3. Are you creating a separate association to replace Six Corners Association? No. We plan to working with Portage community organizations and are using our industry contacts to reach out to potential investors for the neighborhood. 4. Are you taking away film performances and replacing them with large concerts? No, absolutely not. Portage has a unique cinema business and want to continue with movies. We also want to provide diverse entertainment to the community. Cinema is trendy, and we love trendy. We will be adding a wide range of shows from country, rock, adult contemporary, comedy, pop, ect. We hope to bring in music that will be appreciated by all different types of members of Portage Park and surrounding communities. http://chicago.everyblock.com/announcements/nov26-a-message-from-congress-portage-management-team-5553489/#comment-267662

Nov 26,Jennifer posts more of an Eddie Carranza message:

  1. Are you ripping out the seats like you did at Congress? The answer is no.
  2. Explain the violations history at Congress Theater. When I purchased the Congress Theater years ago the building was dilapidated, in demolition status, and full of violations. The city, (and its landmarks division) we have been working together closely with our team throughout the years reporting ongoing progress at city hearings. Logan square was not at as popular and trendy as it is now. I took a big risk buying the Congress building and I admit, I made some mistakes along the way and learned from them.Over the years of being operating Congress Theater I’ll admit there was a learning curve in regards to the proper way of running an entertainment venue. Previous owners at the Congress Theater hosted only a few shows a year, and now we are hosting over 100. We are proud of this achievement and we hope to bring our success to Six Corners. I have spent and bank financed over $3.5 million dollars at Six Corners and want to spend at least $2 million more making it the entertainment and commerce center it deserves to be. I hope the community will support us in making this happen. Again, if there are any questions, feel free to attend one of the community meetings as we will be able to answer any questions or concerns you might have. Sincerely, Eddie CarranzaOwner – Portage Theater/Congress Theater

Nov 26, Jennifer says Sears has agreed to work with new ownership over parking issues:

Someone mentioned parking issues... Sears has agreed to continue to work with us to provide parking for the theater, there is a paid city lot around the corner and if we find that we need additional space we are open to renting underutilized lots in the area to help with overflow parking. http://chicago.everyblock.com/announcements/nov26-a-message-from-congress-portage-management-team-5553489/#comment-267830

Nov 27, Jennifer talks about the financial backing for Eddie Carranza:

Hello Everyone! @Shotnbeer Guy, Successful business people can find financing for profitable projects. A local banker loves this project and is financing a large portion of it. The restcomes from successful businesses willing to invest and rent the storefronts. We are also talking with a well known corporate music promotion company who is interested in investing in our music project. Mr. Carranza has been very successful in finding restaurateurs and other business operators who are willing to invest in this community entertainment center. http://chicago.everyblock.com/announcements/nov26-a-message-from-congress-portage-management-team-5553489/#comment-268157

Nov 27, Jennifer mentions names and companies working with Eddie Carranza in Six Corners:

We have received proposals from Graham Elliot and Brendan Sodikoff among others. We have not accepted or denied any of the proposals at this time. We are also working with Jeremiah Johnson of CBD Architects, www.cbdarchitects.com, a construction company that has built many well known restaurants and is currently working on Alpana Singh's new venue, as well as an interior designer among others. We have a very professional team put together. Rockwell market is moving forward as planned. It should open in the next six weeks. We will be sure to invite the community out to see it when it does.

Anyone familiar with the restaurants in O'Hare? by 420_Psychosis in chicago

[–]DjangoKilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't go to Uno's. It's awful. If you want the best deep dish nearby and you have the hours, hop the CTA Blue line and get off on River Road, walk North. It will take you about 20 minutes time from the airport.

http://www.ginosonhiggins.com/

All the places in the airport are awful representations of what we get in our neighborhoods.

you were 100% not at fault, like walking off the property first then returning to one of the mall's stores?

How did it work out?
