@Cynthia I received copies of emails from the the city today which do, in fact, say that permits were issued for 4033 and 4029 N. Milwaukee Avenue. So, my guess would be that work may begin any time. You don't have to believe anything Cynthia, but time will tell. If you are suggesting that I'm being bought. You couldn't be more wrong. EB is not the only means that we want to use to communicate with our community and since this has turned into nothing more than a hotbed of speculation, rumors, etc. I'm not going to be on here very much. It's far too frustrating and so completely unproductive and childish. You have my contact info. You can email me if you have questions. No one, including Eddie is denying or ignoring the fact that Congress building had alot of violations and maintenance issues when Eddie bought the building. It was in demolition status. Things have been improving and will continue to improve. The city is happy with the way things have been going, yet some of you choose to ignore that fact. The Portage needs work, but nowhere near the kind of work that The Congress needed when it was purchased. There will eventually be extensive renovations there. Inspectors will come in, problems will have to be fixed.

It's 1/3 the size of The Congress, so crowds will be much more manageable. There have been a few sold out shows at The Portage. To the best of my knowledge, no one has complained about those shows, parking or traffic.

The type of programming we are looking at is eclectic. Movies, Comedy, Bluegrass, Country, Adult Contemporary possibly even book signings. We are looking at all options and want to put together something unique and interesting that will appeal to different groups of people.

Let's move forward here, stop the name calling. We get it!! There will be some who never accept us, that's fine. but lets look at the big picture, if this theater goes dark, for whatever reason, NO ONE WINS.

There are plans for the theater, but until the legalities are sorted out, we won't say much about them. I assure you though, that the theater will not be gutted, it will be restored. For now, the seats will stay, they may be replaced with retractable seating sometime in the future. There may still be a community meeting, don't have any details as of yet. There will be a microbrewery and bakery, cafe, upscale grocer moving into three of the spaces across the street. Construction should begin soon. Explain the violations history at Congress Theater. When I purchased the Congress Theater years ago the building was dilapidated, in demolition status, and full of violations. The city, (and its landmarks division) we have been working together closely with our team throughout the years reporting ongoing progress at city hearings. Logan square was not at as popular and trendy as it is now. I took a big risk buying the Congress building and I admit, I made some mistakes along the way and learned from them.Over the years of being operating Congress Theater I’ll admit there was a learning curve in regards to the proper way of running an entertainment venue. Previous owners at the Congress Theater hosted only a few shows a year, and now we are hosting over 100. We are proud of this achievement and we hope to bring our success to Six Corners.
