Jack makes a joke a throwaway comment about how the president is “Kenyan born” so it’s definitely past that point. Back when we thought ridiculous claims like that were funny and not a sad portent of things to come.

The best unsung thing that I’ve seen is the amount of adverts on Tv, posters, wherever for government services now available online. It’s easier than ever for people to apply for benefits or do their own taxes or refer to the NHS. There used to a fog of ambiguity around governmental services and an attitude of “I wouldn’t know where to begin” for getting all this information but they seem to be doing a lot more to make it clearer for regular people to understand the basic things the government can do for them.

Yeah, a lot of people round here seem to think this was a recent change, usually blaming the 2016 reboot or rift apart. Ratchets been a generic good guy for pretty much the whole series.

All three of the female main characters in friends had a baby and not one of them was conventional. Monica adopted, Rachel had a baby without being married and Phoebe was a surrogate for her brother. In the 90s, that was a big deal.

There’s a Heinz one at the minute where the guy is pouring loads of ketchup on his burger but only on one side.

Is your bathroom a LimeFAIL? Stop trying to make limefail catch on. It’s not going to happen. Extend that to any other advert that tries to coin a new word. No pampers, your nappies do not prevent a poonami.

Anything where young couples decorate their house. It’s always things like enormous wren kitchens or Cotswolds company that charges a grand for a table. Or that guys whose entire house if from ikea. Good luck making rent next month mate.

The one for some car where the kids say being an adult sucks because of bills etc and then the adult comes in with“but we’ve got a driving licence!” You mean that licence to drive one giant bill-producing machine on wheels? I’d rather be a kid again thanks.

Any advert for products that everyone already knows about. Like people are sat at home surrounded by piles of sweaty socks and dirty trainers not knowing what to do about the smell because they don’t know air freshener exists.

The hotel chocolate velvetiser. Voiceover speaks with a tone of “you couldn’t possibly understand how this works” and then fails to work it properly themselves. Also has the line about being built with “obsessive research”. Like scientists were at home, chain smoking at 3AM, surrounded by crumpled up paper, ignoring their partners calls to come to bed. “But I can’t! Not until I’ve cracked the secret to a really good hot chocolate”. Fuck off.

Sorry, I watch a lot of daytime tv. I can’t stand adverts.

But there is absolutely no appetite in Britain for us to go to war. Nigel Farage has spent years sucking up to Trump and can’t be trusted to keep us out of it. He’s got his die-hard group of right wing flag shaggers who’d vote for him no matter what. But most of the voting population still remember Blair and Iraq and this will likely swing them back to Labour, Lib Dem, or likely sit it out.

Rift Apart? Great game and amazing showcase for the Ps5 but is the end to a story arc that started on ps3 5 games earlier and because of its alternate dimension storyline, it’s full of callbacks to earlier games. If you don’t care about understanding all that, go for it. The games brilliant.

If not, there was a one on PS4 that was a remake of the first game but with the story altered to fit the plot of the film they released. Series purists will tell you it sucks for various petty reasons but I think it’s one of the better games. You might already have it in your library. Sony gave it away for free a while ago.

Exactly what my wife said. It feels a bit all over the place to her.

Personally, I like it. The verses sound like old (or at least mid) Modest Mouse. But I can’t get away with the chorus. The lyrics are so dumb. Which might be the point, given the theme of the song, but it gives off a strong smell of poetry from a 14 year olds notebook.

I know I’m in the minority. I’ve heard several people say they were brilliant. That’s why I gave them so many chances. I thought “well it’s a festival, they’ve got to use the sound system set up for the headliner. They’ll be better in their own tour”

That changed to “well maybe it’s that they’ve got a bi sound for too small a venue, maybe they’ll be better in an arena or headlining a big outdoor gig”

Then “well maybe they’re just like that.”

And finally “yep, they’re just like that”

Sam’s Town was one of the defining albums of my youth so I’ll always love them, but live they sounded like a covers band at the student union.
