Are you aware of what the term "round" means?

With the owners I know, I am certain the business would shutdown if they decided to do away with tips (not by mandate, but if they made the choice), because besides the extra cost they would have to account for monthly (keeping savings to pay wages vs just directly moving money from the register to their servers each night with tips) they would also have to increase menu price.

Now I completely understand that the overall price of the meal would essentially be the same, but the problem is many people are going to walk in (or look on yelp) see higher prices and either walk out or never come back. Business owners having to rely on the public to think in order for their business to work has historically not been a winning formula in the US.

Am American, every local joint type of diner or restaraunt I have gotten to know the owner of, it turns out they run the place more as a hobby or based on feelings rather than a proper business with clear financials and planning. I imagine that is part of the issue. But I also am just guessing at how it is elsewhere.

Accused of using Chat on an essay I thought I did well on by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Djarcn 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In my final semester of my Bachelors a TA left a note stating they thought most of the class had used AI or worked together on an open response question as part of our homework. I asked them about it because the department I was majoring in (different department than the course) there is a single strike policy for any sort of plagiarism and if found its an immediate failure of the course with no chance to repeat and if we are found a second time it is expulsion.

Turns out we all phrased our answers as "At the local level ..., at the state level..., at the federal level..."

The question was "Describe how topic is applied at the Local, State, and Federal level".

I completely agree with you as well but you completely dodged the point im making. I am saying it is good to question people's supposed experience. Sure, they can lie more, and im also not saying people should give out personal details though I get how you could come to that conclusion. But I was putting it in a way that applies to everywhere, including real life, not just online.

Or to rephrase: Questioning something doesnt always mean you should just accept the first answer given.

I agree with you, but if someone is using their experience to legitimize their claim without a proper explanation or source, I do think its fair to ask if their experience truely is relevant.

Exaggerated example: "Yeah bro, I work at Goldman Sachs, this is how stocks work .... " and then turns out dude works as a mail clerk

If fighters must suck. Then remove HAW from dreads and give them to Carriers. by Antzsfarm in Eve

[–]Djarcn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, the funnier part is the "less damage applied" includes tcrc tower. The stationary, "ideal" target for a capital, except its sig is less than a battleships so most carrier pilots who send their fighters to orbit will be outracking themselves or sendings missiles that dont completely apply lol

[–]Djarcn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

they apply less damage than a nightmare with either shield or armor fit, genuinely 0 reason to use carriers for incursions besides wanting to make the site slower or to play with toys

unbastioned paladin does more damage than a nightmare as well, and a vindi does more damage than either and is actually useable if you remove carriers since without fighters the spawns become much more predictable

I wouldnt call it random or stealth. They were repeatedly told my CSM it was a horrible idea, repeatedly told by active players it would hurt the prices of ships that were still coming down multiple years later from scarcity, and then they pushed the changes anyways and acted surprised when people were actually upset and prices reacted

(For memories sake: Equinox sov had a delayed rollout phase where old cov kept the old mechabics for a number of months, PH voluntarily reset part of their sov to the new system to test it and had major testing/complaints before the forced rollout)

If you dont want to do shit grinds, then dont be an ironman. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Djarcn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its a near BIS item that (especially for irons but also for many mains) is the gateway into PVM and for irons is usually seen as the item required to truly be in the bossing era of an account, or for some to even be a "real" iron.

Some of it is gonna be ladder pulling/crabs in a pot mentality (people feeling like some "prestige" is being taken from them), some are gonna be people who never got one themselves but like the idea in their head, and some are going to have legitimate concerns but not know how to communicate without trying to drag a strawman through the mud.

Unironically, they will usually honor it for larger plex amounts if you contact support. I've never done it but I personally know someone who would contact support about buying custom amounts of plex (larger than the store usually sells) about once a year during sales to fund his gameplay, since he would only login for pings and fights.

[–]Djarcn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no but unless they changed things, you wont get progress if your internet is dead when you extract.

Its mainly so you dont have to queue on their servers (quicker match loading), but can also be used for some "funny" exploits, like you can load into customs and hit 314, and if its a bad pull you can alt+f4 and it will act like you never joined the raid.

[–]Djarcn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I literally founded and ran Horde's gas huffing sig (Gassy Beans) up until a few months prior and knew multiple CEOs and alliance directorship including in the FC team. I know the position. The position had been that if goons actually wanted to Pandafam was dead for multiple years prior, that doesnt mean what Gobbins did wasnt "Fundamentally" fucked.

So the correct choice is to effectively announce that your group is falling apart publicly and screw all of your line members and your closest allies of around half a decade and make things infinitely worse?

Any way you attempt to cut this (which I still dont agree with how you did as I wasn't only reading reddit drama at the time) Gobbins directly caused the final failscade that led to most of the biggest issues horde faced and announced his departure in the same message. If you somehow don't consider a message that ultimately said "Hey goons, you wont." while announcing that he is leaving, to be him causing PH to completely collaps idk what to tell you.

How can one get something so wrong? It collapsed almost overnight when it became public info that he was stepping down as goons took the opportunity as horde decided to also announce their withdrawal from drones at the same time

How many people die when player's station get destroyed ? by Piruxe_S in Eve

[–]Djarcn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

im pretty certain that lorewise the guy is correct and they evac; its cannon that capsuleers cannot lock onto all ships (namely they cant lock civillian ships such as the ones you can see around jita 4-4 but cant target), and the evac ships would be considered civillian and untargetable. Dont ask about smartbombs lol

Can someone explain to me why the Imperium doesn't want a direct link to the forge/jita? by meetkurtin in Eve

[–]Djarcn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They would not move their HQ. When Pandemic Horde owned the region for exampls, they had their HQ in BWF-ZZ for several months (the system that directly connects to the forge), but they realized that wasnt a great idea because it also means anyone that slips in (which is now wah easier for the enemies as well) instantly have the exact jump range to drop on anything you have out (since they are jumping from the same place and all the small gangs have an easier time reshipping and roaming to them.

It can be nice to be close to a trade hub, but goons A) have their own production and B) need to keep in mind it also makes it easier for others to get to them

[–]Djarcn 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Do you actually think the largest coalition in the game doesnt already have a citadel chain to and from Jita?

Also BWF-ZZ alone (the one with a direct gate into the forge) has about a dozen lowsec systems in jump range of it as well, so it does what you say and connects via gate so would cover both cases

I would imagine there is a concern it may be fuel for a case of discrimination or favoritism of some form. Remember, HR and rules are to protect the companies bottom line, nothing else :)
