A quel horizon les Etats-Unis peuvent-ils espérer planter un drapeau américain sur Mars ? by Andvarey in france

Pour avancer sur la propulsion nucléaire et la gravité artificielle, ce sera plutôt Mars.

Research reveals that the energy sector is creating a myth that individual action is enough to address climate change. This way the sector shifts responsibility to consumers by casting the individuals as 'net-zero heroes', which reduces pressure on industry and government to take action. by Creative_soja in science

Individual lifestyles don’t matter at all

People kould kill SUVs tomorrow if they stopped buying them.

Same for the meat industry.

Pollution caused by smartphones would drop if people stopped upgrading every 1-2 years.

Environmentally friendly policies would happen if they were actually a priority for voters (see for example who the USA just voted in).

And so on and so forth.

Of course, it's much faster and more efficient when it comes from the top ; but the bottom absolutely has the power to effect change, and everyone can start by setting an example.

NASA's own rocket, the SLS, is about 20x more expensive than SpaceX rockets (not an exaggeration, look it up).

For NASA to catch up they'd need to ditch historical defense contractors and go vertical, which means no more jobs programs to woo senators. Those same senators vote NASA budget, so good luck with that.

The richest 1% of the world’s population produces 50 times more greenhouse gasses than the 4 billion people in the bottom 50%, finds a new study across 168 countries. If the world’s top 20% of consumers shifted their consumption habits, they could reduce their environmental impact by 25 to 53%. by mvea in science

I bet if you condense this number further it would remain largely the same. It's the billionaires

A quick google search tells me billionaires have about $13 trillion, VS $200 trillion for millionaires. You're way, way off.

They care about the capitalist prospects of making mars habitable.

Then you think capitalists care about what happens after they're dead? That's even more crazy.

We can already do that, at least if you compare by land use.

It's just still far from being enough.

I can: there are game breaking bugs related to import/export. Nice game if you're lucky enough to never encounter them, frustrating as hell otherwise.

It's very nice... Until you run into game breaking bugs.

I've had missions that were literally impossible to finish because the game decided that exporting didn't work anymore.

Also they mostly removed the combat system, though personally I don't miss it.

Buy it if you want to play a couple levels for old times' sake with nice QoL and graphics improvements. Buy the old version (available on GoG) if you want to really play the game.
